Topic: standards policy.

Posted under General

Maybe someone will be surprised if I update this or not after a month, but I'll be a little clearer.

One thing that has caught my attention of this page, is its policy of quality standards, I have seen drawings that have a great lack of detail or that are not supposed to meet their standards, but are approved anyway, an example is that of some artist that I have seen that has come to have more than 1,000 negative votes, or that something flat, even one who said he copied another artist for the poses or the gore he does.

Votes mean nothing in this, and if they were approved, they probably did exceed the minimum quality requirements. Also amount of detail is one of the smallest aspects you need to think about in this matter. Art can be extremely simplified, and still good. It's the overall artistic skills that matters more.

Normally I would say yes, but, I have my doubts about that, so I don't have much confidence in the site.

I like how they waited a whole year after their artworks got deleted before complaining about the quality standards.
This is not your personal art gallery, and you are free to take your artwork elsewhere if you do not like the standards or how votes are given.

If you can point out the exact post that you feel does not meet the quality standards, we might even give it a second review.

Well, I could tell you privately.

They’ve been complaining about the quality standards off and on for the last year across tickets, DMs, comments, etc. - this is just the first time they’ve done it in the forums. It’s getting a little annoying.

Trust me, I understand the frustration with the quality standards. They're extremely arbitrary, the argument for KEEPING them arbitrary is a rather weak one, and yet they're also inconsistent judging by how even images saturated with compression artifacts still somehow gets through the cracks with alarming frequency.

BUT. Given what it looks like here, you're not talking about the legitimate issues with the quality standards system, are you?

Let's say that partial arbitration is somewhat debatable.

Let's not "let's say" the topic. Actually SAY what you mean instead of vague references to being unhappy about something.

Votes are a terrible indicator of artistic quality.

Yes, you're right, an artist who does a lot of gore, gets hundreds of negative votes, the strange thing is that they are not badly drawn, something that seemed strange to me at first, but then it's like people get bored and do something nonsense.
