metal gear refers to the robot and metal gear solid is the series of games

Metal Gear Solid is part of the Metal Gear franchise. I think it should be the other way around.

Metal Gears are not characters, only robots, Besides Like the rest said, is on the other side, Metal Gear Solid Implicates Metal Gear.
Metal Gear is the whole franchise too.

Robots can qualify as characters. However, there's not just one robot--Rex was from MGS 1, Ray from 2, Shagohod from 3, Metal Gear Mk. 2 from 4...

You know what, I changed my mind. I think it would be a lot simpler to just use Metal Gear Solid as the franchise tag and Metal Gear to tag the mechs, as memeboy said (God, I can't believe I just said that).

Or we could have a _(franchise) tag...

This is what I get for only playing MGS1 and VR.

There were only 3 total posts with actual metal gears that I could find, 2 of which were metal gear RAY, therefore I went ahead and reversed the alias and approved it. I also made a bunch of implications/aliases, but here are the ones that are the most relevant to this thread:

I sincerely regret clicking that to figure out why you decided the "Shagohod" tag was worthy of being kept.

I finally understand why it's called the shagohod amirite

Fact: It took me around 10 minutes to confirm that that wasn't actually a metal gear from one of the new games.

You mean in general or on this site?

Because the newest one had Metal Gear Excelsus, which a lot of people forget about because it shows up right before the best boss fight in history

curse you, curiousity, CURSE YOU! the shagohaod was a prototype bipedal tank, not THAT.

that surprise aside, that was probably my favorite of the metal gear robot battles what with it's pilot getting struck down by a bolt of lightning. lol dude can suck up electricity but he can't handle a little lightning.

those are fun fights. pretty good mech designs too, you have to get a bit creative to take some models down (with rex it took rockets to knockout the dish/camera and get the, then blinded, pilot to open the cockpit to start doing any real damage). maybe i should see about buying those first 3 metal gear solid games sometime.

"Who's afraid of a little thunder?!"

A sadomasochistic Russian colonel with close ties to Nikita Khrushchev starts shooting man-portable nuclear bombs at people

also he has lightning powers.

yup it's Metal Gear alright

On the site. I wasn't exactly sure what to search google for, but then I realized "oh, what's this tag down here". >.<
