Topic: Add Rape Tag To Default Blacklist

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

It's kind of weird that things like scat/watersports are automatically filtered when not logged in, but rape isn't. Seems like an oversight that should be fixed.

The default blacklist includes what most people dislike (or at least what it seems that most people dislike). Rape is relatively popular so it wouldn't make sense to put it on the default blacklist.

Btw you can modify the blacklist even though you're not logged in.

No objection to this. The default blacklist is intended for contentious tags so I would figure it should be on there.

I don't doubt people would come here to look up rape and get confused why it wouldn't show up afterward, but like. You're searching for rape. It's a little weird. At the very least questionable_consent gets a pass in my eyes.

Eh, sure. But it feels like it's gonna be a slippery slope into including everything in the e621:blacklisting_suggestions#suffer section

True. Can't count the sheer number of twitter users saying that feral/bestiality should be canned.
I feel an FA approach would fit best. (actually no that's too vague of an answer)
Also hilarious to see shadman and nezumi singled out on there.

My problem with this is that 'rape' is pretty subjectively tagged. It's kind of hard to apply twys to it by nature, and it gets tagged on not just forced/questionable_consent images, but also rough_sex, bondage, and just images where the receiver isn't smiling and/or the top has an 'angry' face.
The definition and use of it would have to be tightened a lot if it was added to the default blacklist. Because I just don't think images like this are very... explicitly rapey.

I think they should remove the blacklist and people should just learn to cope. Unfair to the artist that draw the stuff that their content is automatically blacklisted. How do people know if they like a tag or not if they never see it?

in my experience, artists would prefer that people who don't like the stuff they make would not see their stuff.

There's a list of blacklisted tags on the left which can be toggled, it isn't like they are just completely erased
Additionally young -rating:s is on the blacklist for legal reasons in some areas, so that isn't going anywhere

The global blacklist contains this currently this:

gore
scat
watersports
young -rating:s
loli
shota

These are some of the most commonly disliked topics

Is it really that popular? It's not terribly common in the general post feed.
And it is something that I think a lot of people would like not to see by default.

This. I don't even use the rape tag because the forced and questionable_consent tags are better for finding noncon.

The default blacklist is there to reduce the number of complaints from people who find that kind of content distasteful.
That is why it exists – to reduce our workload. It is not going away.

It's one of the most common kinks, at least in the US.

Right up there with Stepmom/Stepsister.

That is...the most horrible idea to ever exist.
I know I don't like scat or watersports or death, because I find the ideas distasteful. I don't need to see images I personally find repugnant to 'know' if I actually dislike them.

How is it fair to the users to have to see thumbnails of things they find distasteful or outright repugnant, if the blacklist did not exist?
If an artist draws content that is niche, or extreme, they can either accept that not everyone will see it or, if they want everyone to see thier art; Draw less extreme stuff.
Why should users have to see what they hate to make an artist happy?
