Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: ych -> invalid_tag

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #70608 ych -> invalid_tag has been rejected.

Reason: ych stands for "your character here," it refers to the origin/background of the artwork (slotting a customer's character into a preexisting template) rather than anything actually in the image. Similar tags like commissioned and all its variations are already aliased to invalid tag.

EDIT: The tag alias ych -> invalid_tag (forum #406380) has been rejected by @slyroon.

This tag isn't for ych results. It's for a character placeholder that usually says "ych" on it. Much like anon. Though it would benefit from being moved to the character category

that's what it says on the wiki, but that's not what it's being used for. ych_(character) is what's filling that role (and it's really poorly maintained, like half of it is finished ych stuff).

Might be better as an alias then considering there's only 30 posts

It's only at 30 posts right now because it gets cleaned out very regularly. ych_(character) is already mistagged most of the time, aliasing ych to it would make it even worse, since it's pretty much exclusively used as a subsitute for ych_result.

Another issue with current usage is that a good portion (usually characters labeled "you") is actually anon. Sometimes it can really be difficult to tell the difference between ych_(character) and anon via TWYS.

Yea. Now that ych_(character) exists, ych has no purpose. Should've just gone with the former in the first place, since so few users read the wiki for that.

Though looks like ych_(character) gets mistagged at similar frequency. Need to figure out a better solution to this someday. It's not even the same users mistagging it, so ticketing won't help.

Is there a tag for things like post #3756194 where there is a group of images that are a recolored base?

No, since we shouldn't be tagging a post based on its relation to separate images that may or may not be posted here. They can always be added to a set though, which can be searched.
