I believe we're not supposed to use the normal family tags for adopted family, so they're not overkill IMO. If anything the singular tags are redundant, not the pairing tags, since they're not meant to be used on their own.

Edit: Meh because my BUR doesn't include adoptive_child_(lore) but again, singular role tags are kinda redundant.
