That could be an option - I thought offensive words always went to invalid_tag though?

I believe that tag is for overall theme, mainly background, as clothing and species like pandas and dragons already have their own tags.
Maybe name it asian_theme... Just a suggestion.

Could also put it to a disambiguation. It's a breed of cat (post #3950055), it also gets used for images that are just of anthro panda or anthro eastern dragon characters with zero theming otherwise (post #2163459, post #413829).

Well first, It's only sometimes offensive, and only when referring to a person or persons. It's never offensive when describing the origin/theme of an object or scene. (EX: Oriental Rugs, Oriental noodles, etc.)

Either it should be moved to the invalid category for disambiguation, or changed to a copyright tag like christmas. I'd lean towards moving to invalid category as I don't see a theme tag like that being very useful, it would just be overtagged.

Also before someone suggests this, simply aliasing to east_asian wouldn't work, because oriental can refer to any part of asia, including western asia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oriental_rug

so to me moving to invalid category and making it a disambig would make the most sense.

i think so, but 'eskimo' is exonym for both inuits and yupiks. and i'm not sure about anyone of inuit descent on this site feel about stereotype of wearing fur parkas in artartica 24/7 constitute to the whole culture of theirs.
