Topic: weird question regarding why people use e6 ig

Posted under Off Topic

so i know that most of this site uses e6 for porn because otherwise just use e9 the sfw version i want ask you this: why?

personally i enjoy the comment culture on this site being moreso silly and less so me wantingn to blow my brains out reading people rp as the people in the nsfw like on r34

I use this site to find new artists and new things[kinks, media, etc] I could check out. People draw porn of some pretty obscure stuff sometimes- that's how I discovered a lot of things I've now interacted with and enjoyed :)
Also a fun hobby is looking through the current tickets/ban list to see what trouble people are getting themselves into.

I use the site because it’s pretty simple to use and doesn’t have annoying pop up ads like some other sites do. Pretty much everything furry ends up here so you’re getting the best of every world on this site.

Mainly to goon to whatever specific porn circumstance I can imagine due to the amazing tagging letting me find whatever I want, and sometimes creating sets of posts. I also browse the forum to have super pedantic arguments about what tags mean or whatever and discuss the occasional pervy topics furry porn enjoyers find relevant, I guess. I just try to be helpful on this site: tagging discussions, adding tags when I see something missing, translating, fixing the tag type for a new artist and character tags, etc..

Being more comfortable with furry hentai than live action porn helped, same with an ounce of commenting etiquette, but the surprisingly low amount of bot comments and nonexistent malware really solidified it.

well-tagged posts mainly, while ofc a lot can be missed it has one of the more thorough tag jobs and a very strict view on duplicate definition tags, which is my bane

I came here with the intent of using it for porn. But I started treating it like a regular art site almost immediately lmao.
The tagging system is really good. Which is probably a big reason why I stay here so long.

At this point it's more just to be entertained by the tickets though. I know e621 has more than just furry art, but that's obviously the flavour & focus of the site. It gets old after a while.
Especially for things which are rare or banned here.

I like using it for personal organization, posting stuff from artists I like occasionally and because I use the site for reference while learning to draw.

Also, it's one of the best places ever when trying to find references for whenever I commission an artist.

"I want this character to have eyes like this reference"
Or
"Could I have vein work close to this?"

Better yet, it's great when you're looking for a certain position/pose and you can look by pose name, narrow it down more with something like specific angles, etc.

I like art. I like furries. I like art of furries.

The porn isn't really the main draw for me, I'd say most of the art I favorite is either SFW or I'm favoriting it because it looks cool and not because I find it hot, lol.

Also tagging is fun and relaxing for me.

Chiming in as another user who's not specifically here for the porn, lol, furry porn doesn't really do much for me besides in an artistic sense (there are rare exceptions though). I'm here because E6 has the best tagging system I've ever seen, makes it really easy to browse art.

The tagging system. Every time I go to another site to look for art of human characters it's frustrating how little people tag outside of character, artist, outfit, sex position. Sometimes they don't even get outfit.

This too, I'm super into fashion and weird anatomy, and while it isn't perfect, e621 is the only site where people actually make an effort to tag those things so they're searchable.

I mainly just use e6 cause it's got more consistent quality compared to other sites. FurAffinity has so much low effort content that's hard to hide and R34xxx is bloated with AI generated results.
(yeah I only really use this site for porn)

Tagging system and having a working blacklist, so I don’t have all the stuff I don’t want to look at showing up.

This site is the only one left that has 1. a reasonable lack of content restriction (which is why I no longer use FurAffinity or Inkbunny), 2. a relatively non-toxic userbase (which is why I no longer use Twitter and won't even try Bluesky), and 3. any hope of anyone actually SEEING my work (which is why I have trouble using Itaku).

I'm told NOT to use this site as a personal art gallery, but... what choice do I have? Nowhere else suits my needs.

What content does Inkbunny restrict that e6 doesn't?

IB dosn't allow sexualized humans or pseudo-humans (elves and the like) at all, regardless of age.

That. I don't even draw humans, I just don't feel comfortable with such a weirdly arbitrary rule. Like, even if the image is full of furries, if there's even the slightest hint of something being too humanoid, it's gone.

Similarly, with FurAffinity, I don't draw cub or anything cub-adjacent, but my art style is too cartoony so the moderators there would probably classify it as cub anyway.

And the ability to search for art in an easy way with the excellent tagging system we have here.
Honestly the tag system just makes searching for art here leagues better than inkbunny, furaffinity, deviantart, etc.

I can blacklist crap I don't like, I can blacklist things I don't want to see lewds of, I can search for very very specific things without also getting unrelated slop, such a great system.

I think ever since time immemorial (almost 2 decades ago), e6 is considered as one of the major online repository of all things furry and anthro next to furaffinity, deviantart, and newgrounds. So if ever someone wants to seek out and follow the path of Christ, Kratos, or any of the 21 other flavors of deity out there more art of their favorite animal-based character or search more art from an artist specializing in said genre, it's all here!

In a nutshell, it's the National Archives of furry and anthro art.

Great tagging system and blacklist

It's easy to use and I can search for anything here without getting annoying ads, unrelated results or AI generated slop unlike Rule34.xxx or other sites, most of the art I have in my favorites are either SFW or NSFW

I can blacklist things I don't like or not into, and I can blacklist media and/or characters I don't want to see porn of

I need places to archive my art, and this place is really good for that. The tagging system is good, my art doesn't get tagged with slurs here, the staff is helpful, creepy comments get dealt with-

it's a pretty comfortable space to exist on, basically ^^

Blacklist.

That is literally it. There is a million things i'm not into and don't want to see: the ability to hide it is an ability the most popular sites are sorely lacking.

LOL, it's the anti-Google (and anti-Amazon) of search. It's hard to get exposure as an artist, if you can't even rely on keywords actually working or your stuff getting (and staying) indexed.

I agree it's less stressful and has less actively stupid behavior.

I don't know if this place being considered a 'National Archive' is a good thing. It's why I'm nervous that archive.org has so much content, for that matter.

The blacklist is the underrated feature that has been a FA meme for over a decade. Even IB has something like that.

near perfect tagging and good interface. hoping the site is here to stay as literally no other site comes close in these two criteria.

I use that site for years as anonymous user and just downloaded favorites picture to the local drive. I registeted account just to upload some of my AI generated images on separate version of site - E6AI. After some time I registered same account on more sites. I like both sites - E621 and E6AI, but looks like E6AI is adandoned by bosses. I hope on some day on E6AI bosses will create a thread that they looking for some volunteers for image approvals. I'm gladly to help with that. Of course for free.

E6 isn't the only nsfw site that I use, but it is one that I consider an "online home" of sorts. I feel like an outsider looking in on non furry sites and even browsing other furry sites (particularly furaffinity) feels more like visiting a reletive's house compared to the sense of familiarity I have coming on here. Maybe it's because this place feels more like an actual community compared to other porn sites? The staff are volunteers, picked from the user base, and decisions are (usually) made with the input of the users. This place is professional, without feeling corporate.

As for practical reasons, I'll point to the "parent" ost/"child" post system, the unparalled lack of duplicates, and the fact that full comics/image sets are allowed to be posted and pooled here. I've only ever seen 3 other booru sites that use the parent/child system. 2 of them are unusable (sankaku and danbooru) and the other one is for a niche interest and has an awful tagging culture. (allthefallen) I'm sure anybody who's browsed rule34.xxx knows how annoying it is to see the exact same image 5 different times under an artist's tag and it doesn't look like hosting pools for full comics is the norm on most other boorus.

I've been on here since the Earth came into existence. Or at least, as long as e6 has been here. E6 is basically the Google of the yiff world. I do however have suggestions of how the site can be improved but I'll leave that to the staff. I use e6 because almost all default images and vids are here to begin with.
