This thread touches on a thorny issue. Users see aliases as "legitimizing" tags, which is a fallacy but oh well. A lot of these tags do not yet have """staff blessing""". Some of them were started as one user's mindworm project, right? Notably, the entire x_raping_y / x_raping / y_raped class of tags does not have support. The point of this thread is delegitimizing or erasing cub as a tag concept from e621, so unrelated issues lock horns. Erasing cub should not mean other questionable tags are supported. Do with that what you will.

Personally, I think 80-90% of "new tags" that I see are bad or unnecessary, like most of the newer dominating tags. I don't care whether they serve a purpose. I do not support them. Domination and submission (and other BDSM behaviors and activities) have poor tagging and understanding from their active taggers as is, so I do not support spreading the rot. The domination and submission tags, like the soon to be aliased teenager tag, have much worse tagging than cub ever did. I'd rather active taggers get much better at understanding and using our more basic, longer-standing tags than see these users create new tags, of which their creators often do not well understand their own creations somehow. I have rants for days about similar tagging issues.

I don't think we need cross-category penetration tags.
also I think in general we're trying to avoid adding more x_<verb>_y tags beyond *_penetrating_*

We're stuck in this transition where we're trying to turn x_on_child into x_on_young and child and so on, and yeah, there's just soooooo many set:cub_apocalypse posts to do. I've seen a lot of gender tags wrong recently from scripts, but it's rare enough that I just correct it as I go. Have to do that anyways, for the ones without young_feral and young_anthro. Annoyingly you also have young_humanoid mistagged. Saw one user tagging Lisa Simpson as cub (which hilariously got nuked so it was a moot point).

Tagging feels like an evolutionary process, at least at the moment.
