The bulk update request #5854 is pending approval.

mass update spike_(mlp) -> spike_(mlp_g4)
remove alias feral_spike (0) -> spike_(mlp) (11886)
remove alias barbara_the_dragon_(mlp) (0) -> spike_(mlp) (11886)
remove alias barb_(mlp) (0) -> spike_(mlp) (11886)
remove alias barbra_the_dragon_(mlp) (0) -> spike_(mlp) (11886)
remove alias barbra_(mlp) (0) -> spike_(mlp) (11886)
remove alias feral_spike_(mlp) (0) -> spike_(mlp) (11886)
remove alias barbara_(mlp) (0) -> spike_(mlp) (11886)
remove alias barb_the_dragon_(mlp) (0) -> spike_(mlp) (11886)
remove implication spike_(mlp) (11886) -> friendship_is_magic (254235)
create implication spike_(mlp_g4) (0) -> friendship_is_magic (254235)
create implication spike_(mlp_g5) (1) -> mlp_g5 (4381)

Reason: G5 Spike is feral now, that one might need to remain unaliased, or aliased to g5.

implicate spike_(mlp) -> my_little_pony

Swapping the copyright to the broad category with the idea of using the base Spike tag as an umbrella for all Spikes, that could easily be removed.

+1 for fim

why _(mlp_g4) and not _(fim)?

Seems nicer for consistency to me. Since there can also be _(mlp_g1), _(mlp_g2), _(mlp_g3), and _(mlp_g5), having G4 be the only one with a suffix like _(fim) appears out of place as if it's not _(mlp_g4). It could also help in cases there's anything from G4 that's technically not under the Friendship is Magic tagline.

I do want to point out we already don't use _(mlp_g#) for most disambiguations, most of it's just _(g#), with the exception of characters whose names are generic enough to necessitate it.

if I'm not mistaken g4 includes both FiM and EG, which we generally keep separate for character tags. for example spike_(mlp) is the anthro dragon character from FiM, spike_(eg) is the feral dog character from EG.

I hadn't actually thought that much about it, but this seems like the better argument.

I think these should be changed, so that one can check the tags list for *(mlp_g* and find everything there.

I'm still not a huge fan of conflating FiM and EG characters like this. if necessary _(mlp_fim) and _(mlp_eg) would show up in tag list searches of *_(mlp_*.

I don't see Equestria Girls as MLP to start with. It's human characters based on the ponies, but the whole universe is human-based. Friendship is Magic is MLP G4, but EG is EG G1.

It's part of the mlp franchise

I don't wat to sound rude here, but what you consider to be MLP really does not matter in this situation. (also, I was under the impression that the EG stuff wasn't just "based" on the ponies, rather that it _was_ the ponies and there was some framing device that explained why the characters were human. I'd have no real way of knowing, all my knowledge of the series is just cultural osmosis and it's not unlikely that I misinterpreted someone.)

either way, the fact is that Equestria Girls is part of the franchise and it is part of the forth generation of content. I think using "g4" to refer specifically to the non-EG G4 stuff could lead to some confusion.

also, just like-- why? what is the possible utility of using _(mlp_g4) over _(mlp_fim) other than it looking more consistent? I can _kinda_ see the maginal utility of using _(mlp_*) over just rather than just _(fim) or _(g#) if you want to compare tag pop in the listings or something, but we don't really do that with anything else. I mean, we don't even tag diffrent incarnations of characters as separate chatacters most of the time, although we probably ought to.

I suppose some people interested in MLP might also want to see Equestria Girls pop up, true.

This is actually the purpose I was thinking. While I don't think it's so necessary, to support those who are interested in both, we could just have _(mlp_eg). As I recommended with the Spike tags above, we can always update things if it turns out there's more seasons of Equestria Girls with same-named characters.

Further on the utility: *(mlp_g4) would also help find all the tags that apply to G4, allowing them to be sorted by whatever means are convenient, so users can dig through the entries on that.
