in general we don't alias character's alter egos to their true identities, both because cosplay exists and because in canon/across canons of a lot of superhero media multiple characters will take up the same moniker.

Specific examples: Green Lantern, The Flash, even Batman (though a lot of those are like the What If? comics and not considered canon by anyone), for DC examples.
I'm trying to think of examples that are applicable to this site, but drawing a blank. I'd have to look up some furry super heroes to jog my memory. Oops, forgot that the vast majority of Green Lanterns aren't even human. Apparently, some of the MLP characters apply as well, according to going through random pages of the search results for superhero. Although rather it's an alter ego when everyone knows your identity is Vicky Dallon/Glory Girl/Antares levels of who knows.
