Topic: A series-ous discussion

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

I don't fully understand what series is supposed to be used for. There doesn't seem to be one feature that the posts share.

Should it be aliased to invalid tag or just invalidated? Aliasing to disambiguation is probably off the table, since series is most likely incomplete instead of meaning multiple things.

Actually looking closer, it might be related to sequence, but there's enough posts that aren't really sequences that it'll be messed up if an alias is used.

That was my initial thought too, that maybe it could be aliased to sequence. But given the number of posts that aren't sequences, that would be a good number of mistags. It's unlikely to have been a typo, mistakenly typing series instead of ???_series or series_???, so that would leave disambiguation or invalid_tag. The only practical things it could mean is comic or sequence, but sequence is prone to mistags (people like to apply it to single-image posts that are part of a sequence of images, but isn't itself a sequence), and comic is likely to be already tagged, so aliasing to invalid_tag may be better than disambiguation.

The bulk update request #5440 is active.

create alias series (17) -> series_(disambiguation) (296)
change category series_(disambiguation) (296) -> invalid

Reason: Third option
Series could mean comic or sequence, or could mean the other tags with contain series but had a typo.

No extra options
There's too many posts with series that aren't comic or sequence that aliasing to either would require a ton of cleanup.
