Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: living_statue -> animate_inanimate

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #63479 living_statue -> animate_inanimate has been rejected.

Reason: living_statue, if kept, should imply statue and animate_inanimate. I don't think that such a specific tag has value, though; if tagged properly, statue animate_inanimate should be nearly identical.
It could also be aliased to statue, but I think animate_inanimate is generally more helpful.
There are few enough examples that cleaning up living_statue -statue would be fairly easy.

EDIT: The tag alias living_statue -> animate_inanimate (forum #371742) has been rejected by @slyroon.

The bulk update request #5264 is active.

create implication living_statue (178) -> statue (3072)
create implication living_statue (178) -> animate_inanimate (23420)

Reason: If you'd really prefer to keep the tag, that's doable. I thought we usually try to avoid combination tags like this, though.

animate_inanimate is already an over-tag for multiple sub-tags (living_inflatable, living_weapon, living_plushie, etc) so if you alias it you'll get some tag nonsense, like living_inflatable implying living_statue.

Yeah, please don't merge overlapping tags, for reasons like PG mentions. Implications are meant when you have a natural hierarchy like this. It's like making an alias for human to mammal. A dog is not a human. :P

Now, I was going to recommend removing the tag, I'd recommend manually adding one of those two tags in the implication, then aliasing to the more useful one. But since this means some people would not notice and forget to tag both... Not really recommending that way.
