Topic: Tag Implication: nargacuga -> wyvern

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

You're right, but we never assign species implications to characters or fictional species (though wyverns are fictional too, but you know what I mean), for the reason that someone could potentially draw a Nargacuga or Rathalos as a cute little mouse with Nargacuga/Rathalos/Rathian elements. Then it's hardly a wyvern, eh?

And that means you're suddenly stuck with an unsolvable tagging error, unless you'd remove the Nargacuga tag, which you don't want when the mouse is clearly meant to resemble one.

I realize it's not the best example, nor are 'redrawn as another species' situations very frequent with Monster Hunter species, but they still fall under the same kind of reasoning that someone could draw a furrified version of Indiana Jones (which sounds like far less of a stretch), which is why that guy gets no automatic Human tag.

In fact, talking about Indiana Jones and Monster Hunter...

You have a point.

Though a Nargacuga is a flying wyvern.

I'm not that familiar with the franchise but I've seen a few people mention that "Monster Hunter wyverns" were getting mixed in with the "regular wyverns" and that it was causing some issues. Would making a sub-category just for monster hunter wyverns be feasible? Something like this:

It seems like this would both keep the MH wyverns separate and ensure that they end up in more/less the correct place, and it looks like several of these species tags are already in use. (Again I have no knowledge of the franchise, so correct me if I'm way off on this one)

I have more than enough knowledge of the franchise. I've played Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for the Wii U and am currently playing through Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate on my New 3DS XL (the special MH4U version).

That would actually be a brilliant idea, and I'd support it as I soon plan on going through the monster hunter tag and downloading images as I see fit.
