Topic: [APPROVED] Artist tag change

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

This isn't going to work as is. There's no guarantee the BUR will execute in this order. You could easily get several lodishes incorrectly updated to lodi_(artist).

Better ways to go are to either update lodish to lodi_(character) or just alias both away instead, like so:

alias lodi -> lodi_(artist)
alias lodish -> lodi_(character)

Also, this request checks out. ;p (P.S. Fluffdi, would you like to have a Verified status? The checkmark beside your artist tag on pictures you upload will make it easier for approvers to quickly approve them.)

Oh sure then, that's fine!

And I didn't know that was a thing, I wouldn't mind c:

In that case, you'll need to edit your BUR the way you'd like it, by either by changing the lodi in the second line to lodi_(character), ie.

update lodi -> lodi_(artist)
update lodish -> lodi_(character)

or replacing both lines with the aliases I provided in my post above.

And I didn't know that was a thing, I wouldn't mind c:

You're verified to Lodi (artist) now. Once this BUR goes through (or someone manually retags them), your previously personally uploaded posts, beyond the one I retagged myself, will all have the checkmark.

BURs get approved in anywhere from 1 day to nearly three years and counting . Patience is a virtue. :D

Ooooh, that's what the "Estimate: 283" is for, I thought it didn't matter since you responded so quickly, haha
So should I use the current tags or the new ones (or both?) from now on?

Since you're switching over to the new tags, go ahead and tag them in new posts. Once this BUR goes through, the other posts will get into line and fill out the new tag.

Alright!

As far as I can tell, the "estimate" is the total number of times all the tags involved in the BUR have been used. It doesn't tell you how fast the BUR might be approved.

It's more of a guide for the mods/admins; if a BUR has an estimate of, say, 10 or 20, a mod/admin can approve it without as much review, because it won't affect that many posts. If the estimate is, say, 3000 or 4000, then the mod/admin will probably take more time to review it, because it can potentially affect a lot of posts.

Oooh, okay, makes sense

Alright. For clarity and for future reference. I checked this, and checked both tags to make sure nothing unrelated was in there. And copied over the wiki info for both, to the new tags (although if any of that is out of date, feel free to correct it).

Then I approved the mass update:
mass update lodi -> lodi_(artist)
mass update lodish -> lodi_(character)

And then I added an alias of lodish -> lodi_(character) so now whether people use the old or new name for that character, it will both go to the same place from now on.

I didn't alias lodi to anywhere, because I think it is the most likely to get mixed tagging for the artist or the character (because they share the same name now), so automatically sending it somewhere might make those mistakes harder to spot or fix. But it being empty will help encourage people to pick the tag they wanted instead.

Awesome, thank you very much!
