Reason: There's weirdly little consensus for what to do with tags like these. Some of them are aliased to gender, some are aliased to species. I chose to go with species for no other reason than catgirl has already been aliased to feline, so this at least makes them match.

Most of these tags have usage histories a mile long, which makes it all the more surprising that none of the other aliases have been made yet.

And I've seen some <species>_girl tags on posts for gynomorph or herm characters (because people still like to think of intersex characters as male or female, e.g. gynomorph-on-female being tagged female/female), which would make species less prone to mistagged results.

I'd argue that these tags should be aliased to their respective [animal]_humanoid tag, which then implicates the actual animal tag

I think it's better Wat's way, since many taggers still have trouble separating animal humanoids from anthros like they should. I daresay that a lot of anthros get tagged with any one of those variations in the BUR. Aliasing them to dog_humanoid/cat_humanoid will thus cause quite a few mistags.
