Topic: [REJECTED] Carrying_another = carrying BUR

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The bulk update request #4129 has been rejected.

remove implication carrying_partner (5424) -> carrying_another (17654)

Reason: The carrying wiki page says "Tagged for posts where a character is carrying someone, usually with one's arms." So, it's for when a character is carrying another character, making carrying_another redundant. Unless carrying_another is preferred because it's more specific, in which case we should update carrying -> carrying_another and then move all carrying's implied tags over. What do you guys think, is carrying not specific enough?

Part 2:
alias carrying_another -> carrying
imply carrying_partner -> carrying

"Carrying" sounds like it should refer to a character carrying anything, not necessarily another character. Some people seem to confuse it for that, too:

Hmm you guys are right. I'm thinking carrying should be an umbrella tag for carrying_object and carrying_another then?

What's the difference between carrying and holding? Since we have holding_object too

Carrying tends to be for moving something from one place to another, while holding is just keeping a grip on something.

Here's a questions: why do we have both carry_position and carrying_position and why are the implications so weird?
carry_position implicates nothing, but carrying_position implicates -> carrying_partner -> carrying_another

Honestly the "carrying_partner" tag feels more like a lore tag than anything else.

None of the carrying ones have wiki entries.

Edit: here's my take on this

unimply carrying_position -> carrying_partner
unimply carrying_partner -> carrying_another
alias carrying_position -> carry_position
imply carrying_another -> carrying
nuke carrying_partner

carrying_partner should be nuked (or fixed manually) because it feels totally redundant here. If you are using carry_position then obviously you are carrying your partner. carrying_another should be used for carrying others in positions that are not already defined (such as bridal carry, fireman's carry, etc).

Example of how I would use carrying_another (because that is literally how I used it when I uploaded):

None of the other carrying tags really apply here. Cradling comes close, but it specifies "in both arms, like a baby".
