It's a European thing, but if I remember right it was recently popularized in other regions by the British show "Weeds" "Skins".

I always thought it was more of a Jamaican thing.

aliasing high -> invalid_tag - After making sure everything under it was tagged with something more appropriate, I approved the invalidation.
aliasing hooker -> prostitute --after going through it for strays, most was prostitution and probably the same likelihood for getting mistagged with stuff that's actually skimpy. Both get that sometimes.

One question though: I think the bong tag should probably be implicated somewhere in here, but where is the best place for it? Technically they can be used to smoke stuff like tobacco... but that's more of a technicality. It's often considered to be part of the "drug paraphernalia" category. And both the imagery and majority of uses are probably going to be for drugs, especially marijuana.

So that leaves the question: should bong be implicated to --> marijuana? or implicated to --> drugs?

If we wanted to be safe about it I'd just alias it to drugs. Technically speaking you could have a bong without marijuana (though I don't know why it would be here). It could easily be implicated to marijuana though since...while you can technically smoke tobacco in it I doubt you could tell the difference in a picture anyways (unless they specifically state it in text "I'm smoking tobacco right now").

AFAIK there aren't any other drugs that it is really associated with so it would probably be safe to assume people looking for marijuana wouldn't mind seeing bongs.

Also, water_pipe could probably be aliased to bong since it is a name that is used for it occasionally.

Alright, I'll implicate bong to --> drugs then.

However, water_pipe seems to be pretty split between hookahs and bongs. The former can be drugs but often is just smoking, the latter is always drugs but not always smoking. With only 4 images, it's not used that often. It might be better off tagged out and invalidated somewhere.

pot...lol, yep that sounds about right. Honestly, wanting to fix messes like that was half the reason I got into tagging. Damn drug slang does not make tagging easy though. Would cooking_pot work for the kitchen kind? And clay pots and things under pottery would work. And then stoned for when someone is high, drugs and marijuana as applicable for most of the drug uses. /Just thinking out loud.
ETA: oh! I forgot about potted_plant and frying_pan and cauldron. Probably not many, but there might be a few scattered in there.

If it makes you feel better, a hookah is actually more used for shisha (a thicker and usually flavored tobacco product) than other drugs like pot. I've heard of it more akin to smoking cigars but with more of a buzz, but I've never used tobacco before so take that with a grain of tobacco.

As for the tag, hookahs and bongs are both types of water pipes, but implicating them would be kind of silly for a site like this. So yeah, disassemble water_pipe and be done with it.

Alright, water_pipe is now tagged out and invalidated since it's few uses were too wide to safely put it anywhere else.

I also ran into a few strays which I did the following with:

drug_use aliased to --> drugs
pot_leaf implicated to --> marijuana since it's common enough drug imagery on tattoos, clothing, posters, etc so it makes sense to have a tag that can search for the imagery itself. It's still marijuana though, hence the implication.
420 aliased to --> marijuana --it's slang for marijuana use, stoners and marijuana culture (whatever that means) but all of the images use under it fit under the marijuana tag anyways so an alias seemed the best option.

I went ahead with these because they're small and each one's usage was pretty consistent. But if anyone knows of a reason why their current placement would cause problems, feel free to bring it up and we'll address it and fix things if needed.

And I'm still working on tagging out pot into various and sundry other more correct tags. It looks like a consistent modge-podge of the following: stoned, marijuana, cooking_pot, frying_pan, potted_plant, pottery and cauldron. I'm thinking maybe aliasing it to become a disambiguation page (pot_(disambiguation)) might be the best option for it when all is said and done. I think in this case, it would be the better way of invalidating it, since a lot of the real tags people should be using for this aren't obvious and the pot tag is frequently guessed for all of the above. This way the mistags would still get caught, but it would also help everyone find the other real tags. What do people think about that option?

Seems like the best way to handle it. I'm generally against *_(disambiguation), but that one has been used in so many ways that it would benefit from it.

Agreed. It seems like a good way to handle these broad use cases that cause a lot of issues as long as we don't go overboard.
