Reason: Request to alias american_football_ball to football_(ball).

EDIT: The tag alias american_football_ball -> football_(ball) (forum #354428) has been approved by @gattonero2001.

Not to be that guy, but I believe most people outside the US and Canada would associate the term "football" as being the soccer_ball from Association Football, as opposed to the football used in American/Gridiron Football.

Aliasing straight to the vague term "football_(ball)" may not be a good idea, considering that I already see a few mistags of soccer_balls in there.

If I had seen this earlier I would have downvoted it for the same reason. The similar tag football is disambiguated.

Also what the hell is this wiki page:

The prolate spheroid ball used in all codes of football except soccer.

...So, one code of football then?

I approved based on current use and wiki, but if someone would like to make the tag names more friendly for international users, that would be more than welcome

  • update football_(ball) -> gridiron_ball
  • alias football_(ball) -> football_(disambiguation)

Considering we already have soccer_ball and rugby_ball, might as well make the American Football ball tag as the gridiron_ball.

EDIT: Moved discussion to topic #36795.
