Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: strip_game -> strip_meme

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

strip_game looks like it includes characters that are simply stripping, which I wouldn't call a meme. It also sometimes refers to strip poker, or some other game where the loser strips. This alias would incorrectly classify these uses as a meme.

If this meme is for things like post #3740080, perhaps strip_incentive would be a better tag, as it's incentivizing likes and shares to have the character strip down. Although sometimes it's not for stripping, but getting clothed or getting caged, which seems like it should fit the meme.

Updated

I think strip_game should take priority over strip_meme. Things like strip poker are decades old, and I don’t really think of it as a meme, even if it technically is one.

The bulk update request #3657 is pending approval.

create implication strip_poker (286) -> strip_game (575)
create alias stripping_game (0) -> strip_game (575)
create alias strip_gaming (2) -> strip_game (575)

Further consideration and all of your comments is clear - this alias request is not valid.

However I think strip_game, stripping_game, strip_gaming definitely need alignment/deduplication.

alias aaa -> strip_game
In cases like this where the other tags have collectively under a dozen posts, it's normally better for a user to manually switch the posts over to the most popular tag rather than to put another request in the queue. However, strip_poker is a type of strip game and needs to be implied for the strip_game tag to gain traction, so I'll include the other aliases in a new bur.

Whether or not the twitter strip meme is a type of strip game or not and if it should be implied can still be discussed, but for now I also think it's a good idea to retag posts with just the strip meme in the other tags to just strip_meme. If nobody objects I can get to that tomorrow.

Should this be tagged with strip_meme? It's not a game, but I'm not sure what to tag it with to replace the incorrect tag.

I don't think so. It's not related to this Twitter trend. Hmm... In addition to audience and undressing already being tagged, I'll add donation and donation_incentive. They aren't common tags (52 and 20 posts, respectively), but it's the best way I can think of to tag what's going on. I think that should be sufficient.

I think OozeEnthusiast cleaned up the tag 9 months ago, but strip_game is once again back to being almost entirely strip_meme content. To reiterate my question from before, should we alias strip_game to strip_game_(disambiguation)? Or should we keep it as strip_game and manually clean it up as needed?

The bulk update request #5512 is pending approval.

create alias strip_game (575) -> strip_game_(disambiguation) (0)
change category strip_game_(disambiguation) (0) -> invalid
create implication strip_gaming (2) -> gaming (9127)
create implication strip_poker (286) -> strip_gaming (2)
create implication strip_poker (286) -> poker (511)

Reason: This is an alternative solution instead of OozeEnthusiast's BUR. Since there was already a consensus on OozeEnthusiast's BUR, I hate to negate that, but I feel like disambiguating strip_game might be necessary. The "strip game" Twitter meme is completely unrelated to playing an actual strip game, yet most instances of strip_game appear on posts with the Twitter meme, which could create difficulty in searching for true strip game content. I don't see this changing in the future. This proposal is to disambiguate strip_game between strip_gaming and strip_meme.

It's worth noting that strip_game never had a wiki, so an alternative option is to simply add a Wiki and hope users actually read it, and manually clean up the current mistags and inevitable future mistags from those who don't read the Wiki. If we want to take this route, we should still go with OozeEnthusiast's BUR and not mine.

The idea behind the implication "strip_gaming -> gaming" is that playing a strip game involves playing a game. However, if strip_gaming can be used to show the aftermath of said gaming and gaming can not, then this wouldn't be a valid implication.

Just started a new topic about this subject, then realised that I hadn't searched for existing ones. Sorry! I've hidden that one now, and will post here instead.

This is the current status of the tags related to the "like/RT for a new image" format:

  • strip_game (317 images) - General tag. Has a detailed wiki page (which has been added since this topic's last post).
  • strip_meme (329 images) - Copyright tag. Has a less-detailed wiki page, which contains a link to...
  • twitter_strip_poll (60 images) - General tag.

Currently, searches for -strip_game strip_meme and strip_game -strip_meme each bring up roughly the same number of results (4 pages).

First: I think the twitter_strip_poll tag should be removed. I don't think it's important to specify whether it comes from Twitter (now X) or another site with similar liking/reposting tools. The Tag What You See argument is that without looking at the image source, unless it actually uses the word "retweet" it's almost impossible to tell from the icons alone whether it comes from Twitter or a site with very similar icons like BlueSky or Tumblr. If there is a definite indication that it's specifically for Twitter/X, then the twitter tag can be used in addition to strip_meme (or whichever final tag is decided) - I don't think the combination of site + meme format needs a combined tag of its own.

Of the other two tags, which is the best tag to keep: strip_game or strip_meme? I agree with @CrocoGator's suggestion above to disambiguate/invalidate strip_game, to help stop people mixing up the Likes/RT image format with those of other games revolving around stripping.

But I'm not sure that strip_meme is the best one to keep either. After all, the "more likes/RTs = a new, different image" format doesn't necessarily have to be used for stripping progressions - see pool #38624 for an example of other activities. (And post #3738119 for an adding clothes example.) Maybe there's a broader tag that would cover uses of the format for changes beyond just stripping?

And which is the best category for the tag? If we decide to use the term strip_meme, then I think it should be kept as a copyright tag, like other meme tags. But if another name is decided, should it be a general, copyright, or meta tag?
