Topic: André and Andrew by Dosent

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

Hi,

I noticed what seems to me to be a uncorrect tag implication that states that "andrew_(dosent)" should either be replaced by or be spelled "andre_(dosent)". However, in the artist's description of post #2575866, it is stated that André and Andrew are two distinct characters, one being the female rabbit and the other being the male squirrel : "Andrew and André being cute and horny"

André is the male squirrel, as can be deduced from post #1284421 and post #1318871. That would make the female rabbit Andrew. However, since her "character name" tag have been merged through tag implication with André's, searching for "Andrew_(dosent)" will lead to posts where André (the squirrel) is present, even those without Andrew (the rabbit), making it impossible for anyone to find posts casting her through her name tag, or to find posts with her only (if they exist or come to exist one day).

I am simply asking that the tag implication is removed so I may properly tag the posts in which either or both characters are present. Also, should we be concerned that the "é" in " André " is respected, or should we leave it as such ?

I asked about this through the tag implication request first because I thought it was a good place to do so, but I was apparently mistaken. My apologies.

Thank you and have a nice day.

yeah that's weird, andré and andrew are 2 different characters. though they're pretty close together that certainly doesn't mean they should be aliases of eachother

maybe we can do remove alias andrew_(dosent) -> andre_(dosent) and see where that goes (although i think only privileged users and up can do remove requests)

The bulk update request #2940 is active.

remove alias andrew_(dosent) (34) -> andre_(dosent) (35)

Reason: As mentioned above, Dosent's Andrew (the blue rabbit) and André (the brown squirrel) are not the same character.

I've noticed this error in the past, but there also seemed to be an unwillingness in the past to consider correcting it, so left it alone.

As for whether or not to use the e with acute accent (é), the whole aliasing away Unicode followed by the subsequent about-face, at least for Pokémon, has left the whole thing confused. Do we or don't we? Is it only non-letter Unicode? Only specific accented letters? Everything? Nothing?

Regardless of whether the é is allowed or not, we can't alias andre_(dosent) to andré_(dosent) until the former's aliases are cleared out.

Any member can with a BUR.

EDIT: The bulk update request #2940 (forum #341015) has been approved by @bitWolfy.
