Reason: just uploaded a chikn nuggit video featuring a capsule machine but when i was tagging it i forgot what those fuckers were called, and when i went hunting for an appropriate tag i noticed a) how surprisingly barren the gachapon tag was (even saw a post that was for gacha life) and b) that there were 2 different tags meant the same thing that were being used (gasha and gacha). so instead of using either i'm making this bur and turning them into the western name for those things that i now just remembered

(also there's just capsule which has those toy capsules, escape pods, a bionicle, so i decided to throw in a disambiguation tag for good mesure, but i'm chill with getting rid of that if it seems superfluous)

A good portion of the posts are just the capsule rather than the machine itself

maybe it might be worth throwing those gac(s)hapon tags into the same capsul disambiguation as well.
Should probably also put the disambiguation tag into the invalid category

Not saying it's a correct tagging but people are dropping gachapon on characters from videogames that use random-draw microtransaction mechanics.
and I think this post is merely themed after the visual traits of those??

The whole thing might need disambiguation. It's a low-volume tag to begin with and about half the current posts are arguably mistags.

The whole thing might need disambiguation. It's a low-volume tag to begin with and about half the current posts are arguably mistags.

In that case it's not TWYS and it's being used as slang, so the tag should be removed.

My concern being that regardless of an alias, "gacha" will likely continue to be tagged on these posts at a rate potentially equivalent-or-greater than correct taggings.
It's something I try to look at when I'm considering aliases and implications, because regardless of what the done thing is, there will always be users going with their gut and all you can do is decide where their mistaggings end up.

That doesn't appear to be a major concern here, gachapon has 22 total posts, and 3 of them seem to be describing characters from a "gacha game" which is a meaningless use of the tag and 1 is using the term gacha to loosely refer to gacha game mechanics. gashapon and gachapon should be aliased to gachapon_capsule seeing as most of the images depict gachapon capsules.
