this thread has reminded me that I've wanted to talk about this for a while. what do we think about splitting the link (and probably princess_zelda) character up to properly tag each incarnation (or at least most incarnations)?

there are a dozen different characters throughout the canon Legend of Zelda series named "Link", all of them with different backgrounds, most of them with unique designs, all of them being holders of the Triforce of Courage and incarnations of the spirit of the hero^(kinda). currently all of these characters, as well as the handful of non-canon Links from external media, exist entiely under one tag, link. I propose to create a tag for every distinct versuon of Link and imply that back to the parent tag.

however, there are some hurdles, mainly: I don't know what these tags should be named, because most of them appear in multiple titles, so link_(<abc>) wouldn't work, and not all of them have official or consistent "Hero of" titles. so, the two solutions I could see are use the Link's origin game for the disambiguation, although link_(loz) would be confusing, or use the official hero titles for most of them and try to fill in the gaps.

(also most of the same for Princess Zelda, with the addition that she dosn't even get any hero titles)
