Topic: [REJECTED] Invalidate no_dialogue

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The bulk update request #1764 has been rejected.

create alias no_dialogue (0) -> invalid_tag (3)
create alias no-dialogue (9) -> invalid_tag (3)

Reason: Not another one of these "just don't tag the damn thing in the first place" tags.

…though, it may be better to alias to invalid_tag in this case rather than use the invalid category, since this seems to be a case of “just remove the useless tag” rather than finding something more appropriate to replace it with.

By that logic, you might as well not have an invalid category at all. It's not called the "disambiguation" category.

Well, no.
For example, the tag blue is in the invalid category. It needs to be replaced with a more specific tag, like blue_fur.
On the other hand, art is aliased to the invalid_tag. There isn't a better tag to be used, it just has to be removed.

Yeah, in practice it basically is the "disambiguation" category. "Please replace me with something more useful". Everything truly worthless gets aliased to invalid_tag.

+1 for alias to invalid_tag. There's nothing worthwhile to replace no_dialogue with since it should be exactly equal to -dialogue.

A year and three months later, and now we also have a hyphenated version of this invalid tag for some reason.

Changed to an invalid_tag alias instead of a category change.

Don'tcha just love when a BUR sits ignored for two years despite universal approval, then gets re-proposed by one of the people who voted on it and approved by another one of the people who voted on it.

Maybe I should start bumping these threads...

sorry. I wish I could remember every BUR I’ve seen over the last three years. My bad for not checking for pending BURs first. I checked for pending aliases, but forgot to check BURs.

It's not your fault, even if you had checked BURs that would still have been duplicated effort that you needn't have gone to if this had been approved in a timely manner in the first place.

If you have a couple of similar request that have received "universal approval" feel free to send them my way.
