Topic: [REJECTED] animated fixes

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The bulk update request #1678 has been rejected.

create implication sound (38309) -> animated (149246)
create implication voice_acted (7665) -> animated (149246)

Reason: saw something that was tagged with webm but not tagged with animated. Before people try to pull this around on me, you cannot have sound without animation. If an image is static it wont be sound, it'll be a different tag like 'singing' or 'music notes' besides, no static images have that tag anyways. Similar for 2d and 3d animation.

edited it because apparently the others already had implications, somehow. I've seen two things tagged webm without the animated tag, so I'm not so sure about that. I fixed them anyhow.

As it is, the voice_acted implication would be redundant since it implies sound.

The animated wiki claims that it's mutually exclusive with interactive. If that is accurate to how the tags are/should be used, this implication would be bad (the death of flash killing new interactive content notwithstanding...). I'm wondering if a slideshow or a voice acted comic that doesn't suggest actual animation but that does have sound would break this implication too. Maybe that's too much devil's advocate...

Sort-of related, but according to a few people images that could be tagged with slideshow shouldn't be tagged with animated, but given they can be long or short animations they could still have the long/short_animation tag. But those tags imply animated.

To be honest I think animated should still be allowed on slideshow posts, as they're still animated, rather than static images.

Also, animated_png implies animated, and an image could be both an animated PNG and still need the slideshow tag, which is meant to be mutually exclusive with animated.

It's definitely technically possible to have a webm file with sound and a static image (no animation). Many albums released on YouTube do this, e.g. My Ordinary Life by The Living Tombstone.

In practice, I think those uploads get deleted for being low quality or not furry. But unless there's precedent against sound only files here, I'd like to leave the option for someone like Pepper Coyote to do an album release on here.

A slideshow can have sound. Slideshows are not animated.

Except if you make one as an animated PNG and add the animated_png tag, then it'll get the animated tag. They also have a duration so would get the long/short_playtime tags, which also imply animated.

It's not a static image, so I'd argue that it is animated content and should have the "anim" tag/flag/icon on the posts page
