Topic: What constitutes as a "worth while" thread?

Posted under General

First off: I am not here to cause any fight of any kind, just hoping to get some clarification for myself, as well as others, so that we do not have the same problem as before.

I noticed some threads were locked and taken away due to their 'worthiness.' I can fully understand why, but what makes a thread worth while? Does it have to be site related? Informative?

Once again, I am not looking for a flame war, but rather clarification so that this does not happen again.

I was sort of wondering that myself. The Word thread below this one was locked for being useless in the forum, but isn't that why we have the categories now, to put it in the off-topic?

In addition, if there are types of threads that are not welcome ('game' threads, etc.) shouldn't we have a sticky at the top of the forum expressly saying 'don't make these kinds of threads or they'll be locked'?

Honestly I was kinda thinking the same... I mean if a thread is hurtful or disrespecting or just plain douchebaggery then I fully agree with locking, but was the game threads really that bad? It seemed harmless, no flaming or trolling and it was all in entertainment... Those who wanted to participate did and the ones that didnt want to didnt lol. Did we really need them taken away?
