Reason: Trying to avoid the confusion and split tags that result from most people thinking to describe such body parts as robotic/mechanical, while e621 categorizes them as cybernetic. Plus a side of adding some new implications to the cybernetics tag.

This is a gathering of tags that should alias properly under their current uses; however, there are additional tags I've left out of this request due to being uncertain on the handling for, or they have other common uses:

  • robotic_hands / mechanical_hands - Being used for machinery that has hands, can't be moved under cybernetics unless there's a different tag for that sort of thing
  • robotic_arms / mechanical_arms - Same as above
  • [...]
  • mechanical_wings - Seems to mostly contain cybernetic wings, but is also being used as a descriptor for the appearance of some non-cybernetic wings

If those were left out, did you mean to leave robotic_arm, mechanical_arm, robot_arm, robotic_wing, and mechanical_wing as part of it? The singular is just as if not more likely than the plural for machinery. And with robotic/mechanical wings and arms being left alone, it doesn't make sense to alias away robotic_limb, robotic_limbs, mechanical_limb, mechanical_limbs either, since wings and arms are limbs. Robotic/mechanical leg/legs probably also shouldn't be aliased away:

has mechanical legs/limbs on the robot spider, which I wouldn't call cybernetic.

For that first set of tags, I mainly intentionally overlooked it due to the singular vs plural distinction; non-cybernetic parts of those sorts come in pairs/groups and are tagged as such, allowing the singular forms to be aliased without causing direct conflict. It's a slightly risky move in a way, but is arguably worth it to reduce the level of confusion that's caused over 400 cybernetic_arm posts to end up in the robotic_arm tag and over 200 in the mechanical_arm tag, making up the majority of both those tags.

I will admit I didn't think the *_limbs part through though, due to the conflict not applying to legs and the lack of existing implications across those tags. It could work under the current state of things, but would definitely cause a bit of a problem if someone else went and did something simple like make robotic_arms implicate robotic_limbs. I'm not so sure on the *_limbs implications anymore, but what I'd really like to have as a solution is some other tag to cover robotic/mechanical arms that are parts of machinery rather than living things, but also isn't so easily confused with body parts (which I can't think up); which, if that were to happen, would open a route for a new tag like robotic_arms_(disambiguation) to help make the split even cleaner.

Overall though in regards to mechanical/robotic tagging, it seems that robots are assumed to be entirely mechanical and thus don't get many tags specifying that each individual part is mechanical; so the way I've been seeing the tagging structure is that it isn't actually relevant in most cases, in the same way there isn't a broad flesh_limbs tag or anything (with its own exceptions like flesh_whiskers)

Self-rejecting this to reconsider the usage of each tag and see what comes of manually fixing tagging on relevant posts.
