Topic: how to tag transormation?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

Hi, I was uploading a picture for a friend:
I am not 100% sure how to tag it. I said it should be herm without transformation tags because there are no visuals, hat indicate a transformation.
He was insisting that I should tag it with mtf_transformation without herm.

I said I'll tag it herm + mtf_transformation, and that I'll ask in the forum. That's what I am doing right now. What are your thoughts on it?

Also in the wiki is written:"This tag is not to be used for images of a gynomorph or female who has not gone through either a visual transformation within the image, or has been proven to have done so through dialogue"
Isn't text considered "tag what you know"? I have seen this a couple of times in the forum.

I'd say the look of confusion and the mid-form of the penis and balls turning into a vagina are enough to classify as transformation. Whether or not it also counts to tag as herm, I'm not sure. I generally tag the start and end state of the transformation (when it's apparent in the image what they are) rather than the current mid-state, though I typically deal with species and form transformation which doesn't tend to be depicted as a well-defined mid-form (e.g. a human-to-feral transformation won't be clearly depicted as a humanoid or anthro, most of the time; it'll be somewhat feral and somewhat human). In the case of that picture, I'm not sure I'd tag it as herm since the vagina seems to be forming to "take over" the penis and balls, rather than the typical depiction of having a vagina along side the penis and balls.

But that's just my opinion, and I'm not an authority on tagging TF stuff.

I'd agree with Watsit's assessment that it should be tagged as transformation, absolutely.

As far as tagging it as herm or not... I was under the impression that you only tag the beginning and end states, not what it looks like in between, or at least, that's how species is typically handled, so I assumed that's how gender would also be handled. And as far as that specific picture, I wouldn't look at that and think "herm", I'd just think "oh, there's some kind of gender transformation going on."
