In the battle_for_dream_island fandom and the fandoms for derivative works, there's a race of animate_inanimate creatures that all follow roughly the same design layout and worldbuilding rules: some normally inanimate object, but with a simple face, and possibly thin black limbs (though among this species, it's common to have individuals that naturally lack arms and/or legs).
They're just called 'objects', but they're distinct from generic animated object creatures because they all share these common traits, along with several pieces of lore. There's also canon characters that are established to be 'non-objects', even if they're technically animate inanimate, on the grounds that they don't follow the same species 'rules'. There's also characters that wouldn't normally be considered animate inanimate because they aren't based on a real object, but are still considered objects because they follow the guidelines.
Similar to the furry fandom or brony fandom, there's a community surrounding BFDI's interpretation of sentient objects, commonly called the Object Show Community. We have a copyright tag for the OSC in general at object_shows, but it also includes non-object characters who are featured in OSC content, such as algebraliens, a race of anthro numbers and symbols that is also very popular in the OSC.
Before now, all BFDI-styled objects have been tagged as animate_inanimate, but I wonder if it'd make more sense to tag them as their own species. That way, if someone is looking for art of characters from BFDI that are animate_inanimate but aren't the object species from BFDI, they can simply do battle_for_dream_island animate_inanimate -object_(species)
But before I jump into making a tag, I wanted feedback on the idea. What do others think?
