Whoops, I had half of them right and the other half wrong. I've gone ahead and fixed that, thanks for pointing them out.

The main reasoning for this doesn't sit well from me from a logical standpoint. This is like arguing that we should disambiguate Charizard, because mega forms exists. I would choose convenience over an unnecessary disambiguation that would constantly have to be cleaned up and no one will do it.

The problem with Krystal isn't that there are Star Fox and Dinosaur Planet "forms", but that it's a somewhat common name that's used for multiple completely unrelated characters and artists (see the tag list ). There was an earlier discussion about it, which seemed to ultimately end with "Krystal from Star Fox is the most popular, so she gets the krystal tag", which I can't say I've heard happen to any other tag when there's clear ambiguity with the name. Especially now with tag autocompletion, someone typing in krystal would see krystal_(star_fox) at the top of the suggestion list if she truly has the highest post count of all the Krystals.

To me there is not enough evidence that Krystal is an abused tag that can't be cleaned up in a couple minutes and that should be a requirement for disambiguation for a tag like this. The amount of work it will take to clean out the disambiguation tag will be higher than moving the occasional dinosaur planet image out every now and then.

Also I have seen that even with autocomplete, people will still add the disambiguated tag, or even worse they will use the most populated star fox tag for dinosaur planet images because that's what the autocomplete suggested. I have seen this kind of tagging before.

Then you report them for false tagging and they either learn their lesson or eventually get banned for tagging abuse. The problem will eventually resolve itself. Krystal from Star Fox is Krystal from Star Fox, while Krystal is just a name, but Charizard is a pokemon, not a name. I don't see why you're trying to argue against making a tag more defined and obvious.

Weren't you the one trying to argue that they were characters on the Discord?

Orcs aren't a character like a metapod is.
Since we do have Lore tags, I wouldn't be opposed to unaliasing the type tags and using them

But really we are talking about 1% of all characters represent a model that isn't from Star Fox, and half of that 1% is Dinosaur Planet depictions. It seems fair to say that 99% of all images added to the Krystal tag belong in that tag, and 0.5% are at least very related to the character, and would likely be an implication if the character wasn't from a beta game that would conflict with the copyright tags.

It just seems frivolous to me.

It's not about being "abused", it's about being ambiguous. That there's a single dominant use of the tag doesn't negate that there are other potentially-valid uses for a tag. If a particular use gets to claim the krystal tag, then someone who wants to tag another character or artist called Krystal will have a harder time finding the proper tag they should use. A disambiguation helps people find the appropriate tag to use, since the generic krystal tag will lead to krystal_(disambiguation), which will give a list of other known uses.

Leaving krystal as it is will make this worse. Rather than some Krystal-from-Star-Fox posts being tagged krystal_(disambiguation), which anyone would know to fix since it would be in the Invalid category with a wiki explaining what tag should be used, we'll get a number of various Krystal characters/artist being tagged with krystal, which is less obvious how or if it needs fixing (how many people would know Krystal-from-Dinosaur-Planet has a separate tag? given that DP was never officially release, and the character officially became who we know from Star Fox, how many people would know that the two designs have separate character tags?).

it doesn't seem like krystal gets mistagged on stuff. there was a brief time where the Dinosaur Planet version of the character was getting tagged with the main tag, but that was before that character's tag was populated and it hasn't happened since. I really don't see this tag as something that needs to be disambiguated, since, at this point the only mistags are mistaken identity on random blue canids, which would happen whether or not the tag was disambiguated.
