Topic: List of Anthropomorphic Anime

Posted under Off Topic

I was reading this post, from the user ARTEMERERER...

https://e621.net/forum_topics/29580

And I realized that a lot of content of e6 are related to Anime (e.g. Pokemon). You could also see it by the contents of posts (images) of the forum.

I want then to be of some help, at least giving here a link to a list of japanese Anthropomorphic Anime. Probably many of them will be known to the Japanese users and true fans of this genere. But I am sure, most people could find something of interest here.

The list seems not too short, and still I feet that it contains merely a fraction all that the Japanese have produced that could be of interest for a Furry. Probably with other terms of search you will get something better.

And for sake of conversation... do you know and want to mention a (let's call it like that) an "Furry Anime" that really interested you since you were a kid, and want share your experience with us?

I myself like anthropomorphic anime very much... but it is material from many, many years ago. Even from the times of Ozamu Tezuka, so I doubt that with exception of "Kimba", few have heard of some of the suff I like ("W3", "Toriton", and later things like "Ginga Nagareboshi Gin", for example).

Regards.

The very first one that got me was Tenchi Muyo!
Not wholly anthropomorphic, but I recall as a youngling seeing episodes on the original Sci-Fi channel where a small Cabbit stole my heart and then later became an "anthropomorphic" character.
More recently there is of course "BEASTARS" which Netflix kindly brought to western audiences, along with "Aggretsuko".
I found "Africa no Salaryman" absolutely hilarious in its blending of anthropomorphic characters and Japanese culture (possibly stereotypical however), much like Aggretsuko, but focusing much harder on the slapstick.
For a more Ecchi slice there is "Monster Musume", though not strictly anthropomorphic it deals with, of course, monster girls: centaurs, slime girls, lamia, harpies, etc.
For a bit wilder than Ecchi there is "Ishuzoku Reviewers" or "Interspecies Reviewers", much like Monster Musume it features monster girls, but takes a much "lewder" approach.

There are a few out there if you are willing to look, the thing about anime is that it often isn't focused on those furry characters. there are however plenty of humanoid characters. I have a few that might be worth looking at. Some of these are pretty dated so take that into account. and some newer stuff wont look too good either, but some of their anthro design is pretty decent. some if their content might be odd as well... But thats anime!

Strictly Anthro:

Beastars (2019)
Odd_Taxi (2021)
Aggretsuko (2018)
Night on the Galatic Railroad (1985)
Sherlock_hound_(series) (1984)
Tail_concerto (actually a video game, cutscenes are anime. 1998)
Solatorobo: Red the Hunter (actually a video game, trailer and intro, 2010)

Some anthro but may not be the main focus:

Drifters (Yes, there is a tribe that is featured shortly, 2016)
Bagi:the monster of Mighty nature (Bagi, 1984)
Outlanders (1986)
Ozanari_Dungeon (1991)
Killing_Bites (2020)
Grimoire_of_zero (2014)
Interspecies_reviewers (2020)

Smile_pretty_cure / pretty_cure (one furry, Wolfrun 2012)
Re:zero (2016)
Seton Academy: Join the Pack (2020)
Show_by_rock!! (Kintaurus, there is a bunch of these episodes)
.hack roots .hack (Tabby, Mia 2006)
WorldEnd! (Phyracorlybia Dorio, 2017)
Hyper Police (Tommy Fujioka 1997)
Tenchi GXP (Erma, 2002)
One_Piece (Carrot, 1997)
The_Cat_Returns (2002)
My_hero_academia (2014)

Humanoid (catgirls/monster girls etc.):

Monster_musume (2016)
Monster_musume_no_oisha-san
Spice_and_wolf
Ruin_Explorers_(anime) (1995)
Mysteria Friends
Outlaw_Star
Fairy_Tail (Millianna, 2009)
Nekomonogatari Monogatari (Black Hanekawa, 2012)
Utawarerumono (2006)
Dragon_half

Mentions:
Arknights (video game, 2019)
World_Flipper (Mia, 2019)
Monster_Girl_Encyclopedia

I know there's plenty I'm missing, especially the humanoid section, but these have furries in them, or at least most of them do.
