Alternatively, if you don't want to delete the old post, you can request for a post replacement from an admin.
Just send a note to @Millcore and give them the post ID you wish to replace, alongside a link to the higher res image.

A quick note on this one.
The replacements system was recently overhauled, and now posts replaced in this manner will have uploader credit transferred to the user who performs the replacement.

It's still better than the the normal method, since it won't count as a deleted post either. But something to keep in mind nevertheless.

Huh, that's unusual. I don't think that should happen.
Looking at the recent replacements, I don't think that is the case anymore?

No, it's still a thing, I assure you: https://i.imgur.com/kXODt0r.png
See for yourself – post #2740488, original uploader Watsit (id 408179), but the API data lists Shadowstones (id 171673) as uploader.

It's a deliberate design choice. I do wish there was an option to turn it off sometimes, but it is what it is.

I presume it's whoever makes the replacement request, rather than who approves it, so if it's later opened up to users with an approval system the upload credit would stay with whoever submitted the request?

Yeah. Incentivizes the original uploader to seek out the best quality posts, and gives the replacer some benefit of using the system instead of using the old method.
The replacement system's overhaul added the approval system. It's just being tested by the staff members for the time being.
