Hello everyone, I hope I put this question in the right forum category.

Like the title says, I just wanted to ask if there's any specific way we're supposed to tag artists with multiple and/or updated names when we upload. For example, Fezmangaka/Fujoshineko. I know that when you click the question mark beside an artist's tag it lists known aliases/other names, but I was more wondering about if we're supposed to tag both artist names.

Take this post from Fezmangaka/Fujoshineko that I uploaded: post #2599944

You can see I tagged both the old and new artist name, which is what makes sense to me to do. The main thing I was concerned with was that most of that artist's stuff is under Fezmangaka, but not Fujoshineko, so should/could I or someone else go back and add the new name to the uploads? I may be overthinking this, but I wanted to ask and see to be safe.

In that artist's case, fezmangaka should be aliased to fujoshiineko since they changed their name. There's a pending BUR trying to fix their names up.

More generally, if an artist has multiple names and makes no secret that it's all them, those extra names should be aliased to one name (the one they most prefer to go by). If there is no direct link between an artist's names, they should remain separate and only one should be tagged, using the name it was published under.

Unless the artist wants the two names to be separate, alternate names should be aliased to the most recent, up-to-date one.
You definitely should not be tagging posts with both old and new names.

That BUR will not work, you'll have to separate it into two parts.
First, remove the old fezziobeans -> fezmangaka alias, then create a new one.

Thank you guys for the concise clarification, it's greatly appreciated, and I went back and edited the post's tags so that the correct artist tag was being used!

Also, thanks for letting me know about aliasing, it's a "the more you know" situation for me, lol.

I moved the posts to the new tag, since having two separate artist tags in active use is not a great idea in my opinion.
Once the BUR goes through, someone more familiar with the artist than me should probably go through those posts and move the TF stuff to the appropriate artist tag.

Should be doable by checking the image source; if it's pointing to a fezmangaka or fujoshiineko source, leave it with the new name, if it's from a fezziobeans source, change it to that name. I was planning to do that once the dealias was applied.
