Topic: Alias: Sizeplay, size_play -> size_difference

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

(I couldn't use the alias tool since they were already aliased to each other)

Size_play has over 300 posts, but it looks like it is being used to mean size_difference with a splash of macro anyways. I'm not sure how they are supposed to differ, but it doesn't seem like they do.

Alternative: If we want to use it as an umbrella term for micro, macro, etc. then everything should probably be implicated to it instead.

Somewhat unrelated: Age_play only has 21 posts, and it looks like they are all just literal age_difference. Does anybody know of similar tags that are used for roleplaying-type posts? (adult characters in a crib wearing diapers, etc.)

I...always thought sizeplay was the term for anything which sexualized or fetishized the size_difference between partners. With micro/normal/macro being an extreme form of size difference, but not always sizeplay. And that any difference in the physical body size between partners would count as size_difference and any of those where the difference was sexualized or fetishized would be sizeplay/size_play. So if anything it would be more closely related to things like small_dom_big_sub and big_dom_small_sub, etc.

To check if this was accurate though, I tried searching some of the biggest furry art sites to see how it's mostly used by various sections of the furry community. And searching FA for sizeplay/size_play brings back a majority of results that match this 'fetishizing size-difference between characters of any size' type of definition. Most don't even include a macro or micro character, those are just a much smaller percentage of results. In fact, the majority of images on FA, IB, and Weasyl that come up from searching "sizeplay" and "size play" are featuring normal-range of character sizes just in bigger/smaller combinations that, for the most part, are having sex or fetish-based play. For what it's worth, in non-furry kink circles, this is also a fairly common kink.

Which makes me wonder: do we have any other source for the "micro/macro/'size-shifting' definition" other than wikifur? Because it wouldn't be the first time they turned out to be less-than-reliable as a source for something. They can be hit-and-miss. I would take the usage on FA, IB, and Weasyl combined as being a far more reliable measure of "what does this mean to furries" than something written on wikifur.

Also, for actual changing of sizes we already have growth and shrinking as tags, so I don't think we need sizeplay for either of those things anyways. Though if someone spends a lot of time with macro and micro specific sizeplay then I can see how these tags might seem sorta related, especially since these are kinks which can be easily combined into the same stories/fantasies/roleplays without much effort. But being compatible fetishes doesn't actually mean it's actually the same fetish. And widespread usage by the furry community on various popular art sites indicates "sizeplay" and actually changing sizes aren't the same thing.

So there's that.

I don't know the story of the age_play tag or which type of ageplay it was meant for. But most roleplay types of ageplay end up under the infantilism tag. (Though some images that should be under there instead get slapped with something minimal and obvious like "diaper" so that it'll get hidden behind someone's blacklist. So some of the related tags get messy in usage is what I've noticed.) Most sexual/fetishizing of ages with characters who look young end up under any of the young tags (though sticking them under cub in specific is fairly common). And then age_difference is for any case of a noticeable age difference between two or more characters, sexual or nonsexual, grandparents or babies or inbetween...which is fairly broad. So it may be more than a little messy, but there's the few related landmarks I know about in case that helps any.

Yep, exactly as furrypickle says: size_play is same type of a tag as food_play. It's an umbrella tag, only used for sexualized size difference.

Happens to be one of my favorite tags. There's no other way to search for those, and I'd be sour if that was aliased away.

Every time I try to respond to a thread recently you two have already covered all my points. You're stealing my thunder :P

But yup, what Genjar and Pickle said!

Alright, I guess I'll just have to poke at age_play then.

Extremely helpful things

Wow, I appreciate the really in-depth analysis of it. I don't usually pay attention to these types of tags so it helped me understand these quite a bit. I'm definitely bookmarking this for later use.
