Topic: Meta Tags Timesourcing

Posted under General

A number of years should be switched over to the meta category as has been done with years from 1980 to 2020. However, this can only be done by moderators, which I am not. As BURs appear to be set up only for implications and aliases (and I don't find anything in the Help Wiki that outlines how to do them anyway, likely because I'm not looking in the right places), this post gets made.

The various #th_century and ####s tags (a decade year with the final s) currently seem to be used as wastebasket tags for the time period a picture is set in, the time period inspiring some aspect of a picture, or when the precise year of creation of a picture isn't known (and sometimes even if it is).

Years suggested to convert to Meta tags:

1400s
1500s
1600s
1700s
1800s
1900s

You can request a category change with

category (example) -> meta

As in topic #27719

Also if you click the tiny "Help" text at the bottom of the "Script" box in the "Request BUR" page, there's a short list of valid syntax including the "category" keyword. Although I agree that there really should be a wiki page or something that explains how the system works properly.
