I'm also wondering if these shortened formats used for crossgender tags should be changed around to clearly specify how they should be used. Switching around the aliases in other words (such as aliasing mtf_crossgender -> male_to_female_crossgender, iti_crossgender -> intersex_to_intersex_crossgender, atg_crossgender -> andromorph_to_gynomorph_crossgender, and so on).

Conceptually a good idea (it is confusing what ath_crossgender means, for example), but I'm concerned about the length of the tags not playing well with the page layout. The x_penetrating_y tags are themselves pretty long already, but these are even longer.

Yeah, that was a concern I had as well. I'm usually fine with tag names that are a bit more lengthy, but I wasn't sure about using tags as lengthy as these (from what I can tell, andromorph_to_gynomorph_crossgender and gynomorph_to_andromorph_crossgender would be the longest of these tags). I could make a BUR sometime later for folks to determine whether or not to utilize these lengthier but more specific crossgender tags.
