Topic: Socks_(marking) vs. Socks_(anatomy)

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

As I'm sure some of you are aware, we currently have tags for markings that appear simular to socks and gloves, as listed in the title.

These tags generally, are used to point out when there is a color shift in these areas of the body. However in most cases, and maybe how we classify them this is usually used for when the shift is between the same type of body covering, the pigment of the skin or fur changes in the area. But there are many cases where the change isn't due to a pigment change, but because what covers that area is a different thing completely, be it scales, fur, or otherwise. Making the sock, or glove anatomical rather than a pigment change alone. Which brings me to a proposition of creation and population of new tags to classify these anatomical socks/gloves as such.

socks_(anatomy)

makes me think of something more along the lines of nickit and thievul:

where it looks like they're wearing separable socks or gloves or boots or something, but it is part of their anatomy/body. I'm not sure "anatomy" is the best term for the appearance as a result of segmenting between skin, fur, scales, feathers, etc, though I'm not sure what would be better.

yah, that's probably a better defining point for a tag which is different from marking
