Topic: The "tag what you see" policy is ambiguous regarding this post

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

If text in an image describes an "off-screen" character performing an action, should that action be tagged?

My question arose from this image, which has had some edits back and forth:

Two "off-screen" characters describe one of them peeing. Does that mean that the "peeing" tag should be used, or not?

I believe that it's best to tag it with the "peeing" tag, since it's "directly verifiable from the picture". Thoughts?

No peeing (in the picture) no tag, we also do not care about text.

If you can't see it, you don't tag it, simple. You tag only what you see.

So, no tags when it's implied?

And no tags if there's a story tied to that image?

Yup. Literally the only things you can tag are things that are directly visible in the image. Hence, tag what you see. I mean, there are some slight exceptions for very specific tag types, but for the most part...

No, nothing outside of the image is relevant to the tags, with the exception of meta and language tags.

And character names. Or is that no longer a thing?

Only for characters that are inside the image.

Implications or not, it could be a problem if that image is taken out of context though.

On the topic of TWYS ambiguity, I've been meaning to ask this, but i thought making a new thread would be unnecessary.

Should well known male/female characters with no visible change to their canon appearance be tagged as ambiguous_gender or with their respective known gender (when there is no obvious way to tell the gender)?

(I've been using this site for a couple years now, but have just recently started contributing to it, so don't kill me if this has been asked before.)

canon means nothing, if the form/gender of the character depicted is ambiguous it gets tagged as such.
