Topic: Uh, anyone else having this pop-up when attempting to correct an artist tag on an upload?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

Self explanatory, message:

<p>Tag type of "laundrymom" cannot be changed to "artist": You can not edit the type of existing tags using type prefixes, or the tag has more than 100 posts. Please review current usage of the tag and if you are confident the tag's type should be changed please use the Tags section of the website to change it.</p>

First time, ever, that I’ve gotten this message. What is it? I’ve changed tags like that before... specifically my own artist tags (I have them a very specific way that lets me also tag my character as a separate tag and many times have to correct it (or having simply tagged an upload only to realize once it’s up it’s the first of its kind on the site)

Looks like you fixed it. Basically means you can't edit the type of existing tags using type prefixes. It pops up to any user.

It just means you can't change from general to artist by using

"artist:"

if it's already in the system. Forces you to use the tag section:

Yeah, tried a few times then went and tinkered around in the tags area, took me a bit to find it. Kinda wish the message had hyperlinked the “tags section” part to said section.

Y'know that's not a bad idea. Make it more obvious to folks. People usually read the yellow text before exploring how to use the site because yellow text means "THIS IS IMPORTANT" to the average person. I know "Tags" is at the top of the web page, but people probably think it's just an image search feature rather than an editor.

Perhaps it can serve as a stepping stone for people who don't know where to go or what to do when the same happens to them? Perhaps it can be implemented? Well, let's wait on admin input on this because to me it sounds like a good idea if it's possible.

I think maybe a hyper link to the forum describing why the change happened would be better

Like this one?

Sure, I mean the forums first post has a NMNYs hyper link to the "Tags" section.
