Topic: Tag update: melody pianissima

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Melody Pianissima is the Piano Ghost from the original Luigi's Mansion, and therefore a character, yet her name is considered a general tag for now. This should be updated.

It's fixed. In future, you can do this yourself by putting "character:" in front of the character name (with no spaces) [so "character:melody_pianissima" would have changed it from a general tag into a character tag. They only need to be changed once, and it will remember from them on unless someone changes it again]. You can see all the tag types and how to change them here: https://e621.net/help/tags#Tag_Types

Although generally if a character's name is a general tag, it's either because the name can also be an object so there's probably a slightly more specific tag for the character (not the case this time, but it's something to be careful about). OR it's just because no one changed it to a character tag yet, in which case anyone can correct it.

As far as I'm aware, since the tag already exists, it would default to "melody_pianissima_(character)" if I tried to do the character: prefix. This is to prevent accidentally changing a tag type for a bunch of images that use it differently. That's why I asked here for it to be fixed, but if that's not the way things are, then I apologize.

That is indeed how it works now. However, to change an existing tag's type, you do it through the tag index now. Search for the tag, click edit, and change the dropdown to the desired type. We realize this isn't obvious, sorry :(
