Yes. It stretches the TWYS rule, but we assume that, in the vast majority of cases, there are eyes we can't see and that they're of the same color. It's not a violation of TWYS so much as it makes searching for red eyes far easier and simpler.

Actually it's just for consistent tagging.
If it's a cyclops, or if it's heterochromia(2 different colored eyes) it's still tagged with a *_eyes tag.
Technically it's better under TWYS to tag singular, but it sounds weird, so we go with eyes over eye.

Exactly. Cyclops and heterochromia being outside of the vast majority of cases we're assuming has another eye (at least) of the same color.
