Same guy. Velvet has more posts, but Mechamerc is the current name.

Just leave velvet a generic tag, use velvet_(artist) for the artist, and re-tag everything artist:mechamerc.

Searching for "velvet" would bring "did you mean velvet_(artist)" at the top if it's still tagged by then. Much better than velvet_(disambiguation).
