Topic: Tagging Artist's Name

Posted under General

Do we have a policy on which name to use for an artist who has multiple names across multiple sites? I generally use the DeviantArt name as the default, unless another name is used more frequently.

not really a policy I think. if they change names or sign their art with a certain name over another, I think we'd probably prefer that one, or if they have a name they are 'prefered' to be called, or if one art site is 'favored" over another by the artist and all.

I have one question. What if the artist name is a normal tag already, there was this one name ranger, but there is already a ranger tag (for archers) soooo i name it ~ranger lol.... it failed... you can't search ~ranger XD :(

In cases like that, differentiate the artist tag by adding "_(artist)". In this case, it would be ranger_(artist)

This is usually the case. I know Black-rat is usually called Black-rat like on his DA and his email (I think he prefers it in most situations) buuuut...when he signs his art he usually writes "KW" which is short for his real name "Keanon Woods" which is what we use here on the site. A lot of people know this and call him Keanon also.

Shiro usually signs his artwork "Shiro" but I've seen multiple Shiros (it means "white" in Japanese so you can see why it's so popular) so clearing up the confusion we add his full username "catmonkshiro" which he uses on DA, FA, etc.
