Topic: Cartoon_Network tag

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Is this tag really necessary? It's ridiculously broad, and shows sometimes change networks. There's also shows that aired on two different channels at the same time, like Teen Titans. There are shows that used to air on it, but were cancelled long ago. There's no tag for Nickelodeon or Hub, so why one for Cartoon Network?

But if we keep the tag, there's a shitload of things that need to imply it. The_Amazing_World_of_Gumball, Adventure_Time, Regular_Show, and Scooby_Doo are just the beginning of it.

Is anyone else in favor of nuking it?

Getting rid of it makes sense to me. Tagging of copyright holder over licensed distributors.

Nuking it makes sense, not only because it would mean lot's of implications, but what about things that changed distributions or similar?.

I'm mostly in favour of nuking it, but what about franchises that actually belong to Cartoon Network rather then just airing?

Channels don't own the shows. I'm pretty sure animation studios retain the rights to the show (unless they're under contract).

The only thing I could think of that would apply to would be channel exclusives, but none come to mind for Cartoon Network.

Not to mention that we would need to expect that all users know which shows are exclusive to CN, and which ones are still owned by the studio. It would create tons of confusion.

Some channels do own the franchise and license the animation studios to create the shows for them, but I don't think that's the case for Cartoon Network.

Actually, they have a lot of shows like that.

But nonetheless, the tag probably isn't worth keeping. We'd have to create tons of implications, and is there any real point in lumping all those series under one tag?
