That's what happens when you watch horror movies as a kid. It either hardens you or breaks you, and it sounds like you broke. They have an age restriction for a reason.

i just noticed something i missed in the trailer for the nut job 2.

that little mouse is jackie chan. somehow, the thought of that little mouse being strong enough to knock a grown man off his feet just makes him seem all the more cute imo. :)

well, it looks like it might be a good movie and... it seems some people are now trying to push for a female james bond. so...female doctor who and now female james bond...where will this trend end?

the female doctor, i'm willing to give a chance because we saw the master come back gender bent and he/she turned out awesome (crazy and wacky like pinkie pie, sure, but still great). a female james bond however? this might be good and it might not.

i'm wondering if this is going to just be a one time thing for both of them and if it isn't...where will the replacement of male characters end?

Not sure if James Bond would work. I mean, this is the character who was praised for Rape Conversion Therapy in one movie. Both in-universe and real life. As the event that made him famous for having charisma in the first place. And one that is rarely recognized as that even now. No matter what side someone would take, including none at all, the outcome would not be a good one.

Atomic Blonde was a great period piece. Strong style from the locations, props, and music. Too gritty and complex to engender serious comparisons to James Bond, so closer to Jason Bourne. In terms of allegiances, I don't think I've seen any spy movie as complex. In fact, my only real issue was knowing where everyone's tenuous alliances were in each moment (i.e., not always as clear as it should have been). This is probably one of those movies where important details can be picked up during repeat viewing.

Don't be misled by the trailers: I can't recall one point in the movie that wasn't gritty. Also, its trailers sure are loaded up with spoilers... Blue Monday was in strong representation.

Speaking of needing repeat viewings, Enemy (full ). Now that was layered. Took me far too long mid-viewing to figure out it's one of those psychological weird fiction stories that I'm all about, and the movie itself didn't appear to water down its source's subtleties and weirdness as one expects of Hollywood.

i've always thought the scariest thing about this movie series is that what they show can actually happen irl since such diseases do exist irl.

that aside, not for everyone. especially people who can't handle blood and gore very well. that and well...it's basically people melting from a flesh eating virus. gore and blood and whatnot rarely ever bothers me but these movies tend to leave me feeling uneasy. :/

though i suppose it might appeal to certain audiences... (wtf are they having sex while dealing with... DAMN that's fucked up!)

No worries, it happens to everyone. Blending two things with similar names together I mean. I do the same thing with Battlestar Galatica and Battlefield Earth sometimes despite the two having nothing in common except for the word "battle" in the title.

Christopher Nolan has written/produced/directed some good films.

Inception, I would rate as an excellent, engrossing film.

The Dark Knight and Interstellar, now those, those I rate as masterpieces.

I just finished watching Interstellar for the 4th time, and I am a bit sad I never bothered to see it in theatres. New insights and subtle nuances picked up with each viewing, and it always seems to hit right in the feels with its blend of good science, drama, bits of dark comedy and action.

leapt onto my radar when I first saw its trailer over a month ago. I too said "wow" when it concluded because the trailer itself is a viewing experience and the whole thing looks very promising. You can tell from the trailer that it will have strong style, to say nothing of its director who's known for that.

I saw Darkest Hour two weeks ago. Afterward, I came up with a viewing order:

Darkest Hour
Their Finest
Dunkirk
The Imitation Game
Bonus: The King's Speech

Up next is The Post and then probably Hostiles. I would have seen Phantom Thread for its universal acclaim and the word "uncompromising" that I plucked from blurbs of reviews, but I would have had to watch it alone, which I'm not interested in.

Recently... I see too many movies to remember farther back... Molly's Game was fine, understandably a Sorkin movie. Kind of felt like a play, and it somehow got bogged down in its own poker trappings, but still fine. Molly's Game makes me pine for Miss Sloane. Need to rewatch that. Three Billboards... was good. Strong acting that earned those Golden Globes.

The Shape of Water made lots of good decisions. Rich colors and sets. Charming music starting off many scenes to disarm the tension of the previous scene, as if saying, "no, that's not the kind of movie this wants to be". And again, forcing a dismissive character to spell out what another character was trying to say to make him understand was really meant for the audience's benefit, another way of guiding their perception and keeping everyone on the same page. I predicted part of the ending midway through when I detected the movie's penchant for working with imagery (spoiler: gill-shaped neck scars. salient and obvious), but at least the movie raised doubts about that eventuality.

As an aside, watching (sports) teams you follow do well when (1) you know the players, (2) know their struggles, and (3) understand the sport's rules and how games look when played well is in itself a regular movie-like experience. Last night's game was a treat. Our football team has finally turned it around after a decade of mediocrity. Our hockey team has turned the corner. The baseball situation is complicated. A pivot phase, and maybe only a .500 year. Sports has fun narratives if one but finds them.

My favorite movie would be Mad Max: Fury Road, but Infinity War could top it.

Oh man, I like a lot of movies so I can't really name one as my favorite. I guess post-apocalyptic stuff like the Book of Eli and 28 Days Later.

Oh, and Bushwick, I like that. I want to watch Disturbing Behavior too.

I didn't enjoy Fury Road at all, it simply didn't have enough feminism.
All sci-fi movies should have feminism, even if they're not about handmaids.

It could’ve shifted a little from the car chase, but it was so great overall that it didn’t matter, I’m with you.

Yep, Infinity War is my new favorite movie. Truely a masterpiece of a movie.

since this thread has been recently bumped I watched final fantasy Kingsglaive when it came out, I didn't enjoy it the first time because there was no characters from the game and a long part in the middle with no action that was rather boring, but I watched it a second time with my brother and I seem to enjoy it more every time I watch it.
Also the graphics were incredible I watched final fantasy advent children and in comparison it definitely has aged ( still a fun movie ).

Another video game movie series I've watched all of is resident evil degeneration, resident evil damnation and resident evil vendetta. the first one was pretty fun although a little cheesy it still had some cool parts. The second one wasn't really memorable except the fight with the tyrant at the end, and the third one was Indescribably bad, like a highway chase scene with zombie dogs bad.

Finished The Blacklist a while ago on netflix and now I don't know what to watch ;_;
