Guys, but seriously... it's been a week now and some of us still can't upload jack, nor shit because the site is really busy trying to repeatedly kill and resurrect Jim and spamming errors 500 everywhere... Is anyone going to do anything about it? We will never know... Last admin post is at the start of the page, rip...

Updated by anonymous

Are the staff really not going to give us ANY updates on what's going on with their stupid host?

There's already a fix for this ready for the next update.

Uploading appears to work afaict (based on the /post index), but it may be a bug related to a specific file or URL that you are trying to upload. If you are still getting these errors, create an issue here with the file you are uploading, and how you are uploading it (by url, from computer). This information may be able to help narrow it down.

The host is actually fine, we've just been having some weird traffic/CPU spikes that we've been trying to find the source of (which we haven't seen for a day or so now).

I know this isn't exactly an explanation, but when I have more specific information I'll give an update on this.

The file I'm trying to upload can be found here: http://d.facdn.net/art/salireths/1325115738/1325115738.salireths_refpage1.jpg
I have it on the computer (as i do with everything i upload, because uploading from URLs just doesn't work for me, gives constant errors)

Here's something minor that I noticed while tag scripting: http://i.imgur.com/rbgWPj2.png

The tag that I've been scripting is listed twice. But as far as I can see, those are completely identical. It seems to list tags that are excluded from the search (with the - modifier) as trending tags.

...maybe it's always been like that, and I just hadn't noticed.

There seems to be a bug when adding tags with two hyphons in them.

E.G. gray--day keeps getting changed to gray-day.

It's not a bug, the site strips multiple hyphens/underscores automatically to prevent tags like first--person_view from getting added. Try adding video_____________games to a post and you will see what I mean.

Edit: Since it looks like it's more relevant to underscores, I might just pull that bit out.

2) The quote shows the smilie as a square with F60B in it:

If I remember right this was actually a limitation because how JavaScript normally parses characters in UTF-16; we need to convert to code points to get outside that range. Or somethinh like that.

When exactly does the note system work during the day?
I've noticed that there are timeframes when it does work, but most of the day it doesn't.

Flagging a post which already has a parent changes the upload's parent.

Originally, post #858097 had post #857973 as its parent. However, flagging the former for deletion resulted in its parent being changed to post #858280, severing the tagging that marked it as an artist-made edit of the bottomless version.

Unsure what can be done about this. A more elegant solution might be including a bar at a top stating what post was flagged in favor of this one, to be removed when the flag is settled.

I'm gonna make a guess that the parent was changed for the sake of tagging a duplicate. You're supposed to set the superior version of the image as the parent before flagging, and then have the superior variations set the superior original as their parent, as well. 73 is the guy pantless, while 97 and 80 have pants. Since 97 was an inferior of 80, it had 80 set as the parent so that the admins could quickly locate the superior with a single click, and delete the inferior.

post #957973 is now the parent of post #858280 instead of post #858097, so it all works out in the end.

We have had some sporadic traffic issues over the last few days but that is something that affects the entire site (not just notes).

  • Do you mean post notes (used for translations) or dmails (PMs, sometimes called "notes" on other sites)?
  • What do you mean by doesn't work? Are you seeing any error messages?
  • What browser/OS are you using?

This is working as intended. The parenting is how favorites are transferred, and also helps redirect users to the better post.

Never thought of transferring the parent if it already exists (when it isn't the same post as the flag of course). That's actually a pretty good idea. I'll add that to my todo list.

As for me, I still can't add any translation notes whatsoever. Most recent error I got was

I really wanted to put some of my Japanese knowledge to use.

I know what you are talking about now. I had to patch the note system earlier this month to prevent spam abuse, but broke it (for members) in the process. I wrote a fix shortly after but I didn't realize that fix hadn't been made live yet.

I'll poke Spight to see if we can get the fix up.

I have no idea what that would be about. Do you get it every time or just the one time? If it's just the one time it may have been something unrelated that caused that error to pop up.

I meant the notes, not dmails.
It's the same error everyone is getting. However I still see the occasional updates in e621.net/note/index so it must work at some points.
I'm using FF 45 and Arch.

To be honest, I get a different Error Code on a different picture.

There's been some problems in wikis as well. Looking at something like cervitaur where it says it's been aliased, that link is broken.
Also, quoting users is showing

Um....to be honest, if you couldn't see...the site is breaking apart slowly.

Now, none of the bbcode is working, or working correctly.

Edit: I just went to the page to tell me what DText is, and it's a smashup of bbcode along with two other types. xP

Pools have gone funky.

https://e621.net/pool/show_historical/7064?version=136769 should show a previous version of pool #7064, but instead it shows what I think is a VERY old set (but it keeps the description from pool #7064!)

Also, the order of pool #7064 goes post #849327, post #832127, post #854072, which is correct, but the actual navigation puts it as post #849327, post #854072, post #832127, which is out of order. This is a subtle bug that may be unrelated to recent text issues.

First line is:

> Robo-ant, out on recon

Should be:

> Robo-ant, out on recon

Outside of the code tags, e621 displays the greater-than sign as shown above.
The ampersand is displayed as an HTML entity, too.

I derped with an exploit fix in dtext but there's already a fix ready for it; we'll try to get it deployed asap.

Main characters affected:

    " < > & '

What doesn't work:

"custom":/links and any links with "<>&'
    →, ->, etc. shortcut arrows

(written in a code block because that part of dtext happens to bypass the bug)

I've seen this happen before the last update, so I think it's unrelated to recent issues.

Based on the pool history page like the posts from the first got saved as the order number (or something?). I have no idea why it would do that, but I reverted it to the last good edit and manually re-added the posts in the correct order.

For me this formatting issue seems to "blink" in and out of existence. [insert 'Sans' joke here] I'll load a page and I'll see my original text, but if I reload the page again it sometimes re-breaks. The breaking itself seems to currently have an occurrence rate of about 9.200 % for me according to my personal tests...

Best of luck with the fix, my Lords.

Edit: Well, something just happened: Just now (Mar 30, 2016- 8:26PM EST.) My eSix extend showed that my subscriptions had updated when they actually hadn't, and then it fixed itself almost immediately.

To admins: Keep Calm and Keep 'er Goin'

There were 3 posts that were duplicated, I fixed it by removing the posts and re-adding them (followed by making sure they are in the correct order).

There might be a bug that makes it so you can add posts twice, but I haven't looked into it.

This is a known issue. -set doesn't work very well in general and it also adds posts in any set you have access to (so if 3 public/private sets you own have one post in common, that post will show up 3 times).

It's on my todo list.

I haven't had the chance to really dig into it until now. Now that I can I've been trying to reproduce it for nearly an hour now and I'm coming up blank. :/

  • Upload by URL or by file? If URL can you give me an example of a link you've used.
  • Do you use a proxy or some sort of "data saving" mode enabled? (the latter is more common with mobile browsers)
  • Any addons or privacy-related software like NoScript or Ghostery?

1) I'll make a note to do some tests with Upload by URL.

Huh, I can confirm that for myself too, never noticed that until you mentioned it. Seems that whenever the pokemon tag appears in any way at all it error 500's immediately. This has been a recurring issue for me at least over the last couple weeks though, and has not always been the pokemon tag. Probably makes more sense than it seems.
