to properly respect my OC could this tag be added and changed from vicky -> Vicky_Ascot on https://e621.net/post/show/409909/ and https://e621.net/post/show/367585/

Vicky Ascot belongs to me http://www.furaffinity.net/user/vhbeaver/

on a side note I was not asked if it was alright to post my OC on this site the people that posted them just did it with out permission. but rather then pull them and ruin every ones fun just putting the images of me tagged under the right name would be fine.

Done.

Additionally, thanks for reacting in a civilised way to having your OC posted here without permission.

Simplest way to avoid this: Ask before doing it.

Hell must have frozen over.

Someone didn't flip their shit over their stuff getting posted.

Kudos to you for keeping a cool head, that's unfortunately a rare trait on the Internet.

FYI in the future if you see this problem again, you can always change the tags yourself.
Just click the edit link at the bottom of the image, or to the left of the page under "Options", and change the tag to the one you want.
As long as the tags are accurate, it's ok to do.

We are required to ask the artist, since they hold the copyright.
We are not required to ask the character owner.
Or do you think we should ask Hasbro before posting My Little Pony porn?

^.^ with my OC only growing in popularity I feel that its only a matter of time till more art of myself shows up here, really im alright with it so long as its paying proper respect to myself and the artist who did the commission.

That's the main objective of e621, accurate tags and correct source as possible

Sometimes too much :P

indeed it is a dicey subject, I feel that the owner of the OC should be asked if its a commissioned artwork, due to the fact that they payed for that art so that others could enjoy it, not just for selfish purposes I would like to think but as I said befor as long as its paying proper respect to the owner then it should not be a problem.

I never said anything about what is required.

This site actually got started by not asking anyone permission for anything, and when people asked for their things to be removed, they were told to fock off.

Unfortunately getting that permission before hand can be a bit unrealistic.
If you have large orgy pics, or images where the character isn't well identified, or no contact info is given for the owner it's just not feasible.
So, realistically, we ask the artist because they're usually easy to find/identify, and if someone who owns a character takes issue then we work to remedy that afterward to the best we can.

It's just the only reasonable way to do things, otherwise we'd never have new art because of waiting on permission from so many people.

For the record? If you own a character, and you commision a piece from an artist, you are the copyright owner. "(b) Works Made for Hire. In the case of a work made for hire, the employer or other person for whom the work was prepared is considered the author for purposes of this title, and, unless the parties have expressly agreed otherwise in a written instrument signed by them, owns all of the rights comprised in the copyright." Certainly you can sign your rights away when you are commissioning a piece, if that is part of the agreement, but by default, if you're paying for it YOU are the copyright holder for that piece. http://www.copyright.gov/title17/circ92.pdf page 141 corresponds to page 126 in the table of contents, if you want to double-check the passage quoted.

That attitude has always irked me especially when it's an incorrect assumption. :/

This said- Vicky, your character is quite sexy! It's not often that we get really beautiful beavers around here (which is a shame!). Thank you very much for being understanding about one of our other members' faux paw (^_~)and letting it remain with appropriate contribution made. I hope you decide to stick around, maybe post more of your art here for us to enjoy further, maybe take part in the community as well! On that note, welcome to e621, and don't mind the giant horse cock that I originally replied to :P (Just teasing, since, well, that's what his avatar is :P)

Many furry artists intentionally maintain their copyright.
I would even say most do.

But treating it like that is how it is by law instead of something that is negotiated with every commission is bad; If you hadn't stated it as, "the artist holds the copyright", period, and rather as "the artist usually holds the copyright", which would be far better, then I wouldn't have addressed it at all. :)

To put it simply: If I payed Walt Disney to draw Mickey Mouse in such and such way, then that EXACT image could not be used or reproduced without my consent. But if I payed him to make an anthropomorphic mouse named Micky Mouse before he thought to make the character himself, then DisneyWorld would not exist.

(Simple-minded-responder): Well then "Mr. Disney" could just say no then turn around and make bank off of the Mickey idea.

No. Unless he can prove he has a pre-existing idea that would cause infringement isseues with yours then your idea is protected by patent PENDING laws. And yes you need proof that its your idea and not the artist's. So save your emails when discussing commisions.
