That's apparently what planet they're from. I'm not a sonic fan but I'm pretty sure mobian is an inhabitant on the home planet of all the non human characters. Would go as a species tag.

They already have species tags to go off of though.
Sonic the hedgehog
Rouge the bat
Knuckles the echidna
Though to me they all look pretty much the same, but I'm not sure what having a tag like that would accomplish over just tagging them sonic_(series).

Just wondering is all.

Maybe some people would want to search for the specific style in which Mobians are drawn?

mobians are differnt from normal Anthros in that they have sometimes one eye with two eyeballs which is pretty gross

I think it would make sense to implement the "mobian" tag.

o.O freaky, don't think i've seen something like that in quite a while. hmmm...would that be something like...biclops? a cyclops but with 2 eyes where the 1 would normally be located? or maybe i'm just over thinking this odd topic.

I don't see a reason for the tag. Anyone who wants to find sonic characters would just have to search the sonic copyright tag. The two tags would be covering the exact same ground.
At least, I think they would. I don't know much about the sonic series are there sonic characters that aren't mobian? >.>

Good point.
As far as I know, it's also tagged for fan characters. So yeah, there doesn't seem to be any need for the Mobian tag.

post #323442 is a good example of this; sonic and Amy have 1 eye but two eyeballs

It’s like a visor or compound eye… with eyes

Well, there are are chao and human characters. Removing mobian tag makes harder to find some specific pairings, but I'm not sure whether it's enough reason to make this tag valid. E621 is dealing with things like this inconsistently:
On the one hand there is no pokemon_(species) tag, just pokephilia. On the other hand there are keidran and basitin tags for twokinds.

Aren't those creatures still from mobius though? Therefore still mobians? Or am I wrong about that?

I checked first link in google before writing that post, and there's this quote:
Mobians are a race of humanoid beings who inhabit much of Sonic's World, co-existing with Humans and other races such as the mystical Chao and the undeveloped Mobini.
There's even Non-Mobian Creatures category.

All in all then, I'm neither for nor aganst the tag. I don't think it's necessary because there are existing was to search for almost exactly the same thing, but I can see why some people would want it regardless. so.... +/-1?

This is an interesting point.

Tags for fictional species, like those in Twokinds, don't sit well with me. It pops up every now and then when an aspiring writer/worldcreator doesn't feel that their generic anthrofied canine/feline race is special enough, so they make a new tag that gets promptly removed.
Even the Elder Scrolls anthro races like khajiit and argonian, with all of their distinctive features, are just felines and scalies at the end of the day. But they have become established races, so we don't argue them.
What I'm trying to say is that franchise specific species tags are really weird, because they only seem to stick around when their series becomes popular enough. Elder Scrolls, Twokinds, and the Sonic series qualify as popular enough.
If you can come up with a good list of traits that distinguish a Mobian from an anthro, I'd actually say +1.
the Sonic wiki's Mobian page is a good start
