i was just responding to a comment about this on post #633084 and i'm wondering... in that pic, the "male" with the musical note cutie mark is octavia (female in the show). now, i'm aware that R63 is basically the opposite gender version of pretty much anything so why is "he" tagged as dickgirl when it would be male, not shemale (dickgirl).

i'm just a bit confused as to where R63 comes into play regarding the intersex tag mainly.

I think it's tagged as dickgirl because of the show's style of representing males and females.

Females have a somewhat round muzzle while males have a more linear muzzle.

I'm not sure that you can tag it like that because it's partially using outside information to tag, but on the other side it gives a more feminine face making it plausible.

As for R63 i think it's pretty self explanatory i see no need to tag it if the character isn't the opposite gender as presented on the show, since it's shown as a dickgirl i think the crossgender tag doesn't apply.

The intersex tag is always used when the character is a herm/dickgirl/cuntboy it's an umbrella tag to show sexes beyond male and female. (I think.) (Don't Quote me on that)

herm, cuntboy and dickgirl all imply intersex as well, so the presence of any of the three former tags results in the latter also being tagged.

This is kind of a tricky one as feral genders are handled a bit differently than anthro to begin with, but I think I may need to back up a bit.

• intersex is not r63, it is a tag used for characters that have a mix of both male and female characteristics. Howto:tag genders is a pretty good resource for this, but it kind of breaks down with ferals somewhat.
• crossgender is what we use for r63. It's a tag used for when a normally male character is drawn as female or visa-versa.
• gender_transformation is for when the character is visually "transforming" into a different gender, but only on the posts that are showing the transformation.
• mtf and ftm are essentially the same usage and rules as gender_transformation, but specific for male->female and female->male. This should probably be implicated, but there are some things holding that back atm.

The long answer is that most of the time they don't really fit well under crossgender (r63). Since there is actually a noticeable difference between male and female characters (many of their facial expressions are modeled after humans after all), tagging them as crossgender ends up mixing everything together and watering down the tag. It's probably why "futa" was overwhelmingly adopted over herm in pony circles, despite herm being the already-established term.

If you'll notice, the crossgender males have a more masculine squarish jawline, flatter eyebrows, and (although this doesn't matter for tagging purposes) usually slightly different hairstyles. The dickgirls on the other hand tend to have round heads with a pointed nose, longer hair, and have more feminine eyebrows. Male characters also tend to be slightly larger (if you happen to see them together) and for whatever reason they are also more likely to have visible hooves with feathering (see post #172451 for an example of this).

The short answer is that, due to a complex set of circumstances female MLP characters just tend to get dickgirl by default; the exceptions are the point where you tag male/crossgender.

Yeah, intersex isn't meant to be tagged by itself. When it is it's usually either because somebody switched a tag (cuntboy -> female) and forgot to remove it, or somebody tagged it with futa (to prevent mistagging between herm and dickgirl, it would up aliased to intersex).

i see... well, thanks for the the explanation there, parasprite, as well as letting me know what tag e621 uses for R63.

guess i should point out that if anyone here happens to see my pony avatar elsewhere some time, don't instantly assume it's female due to the appearance. i just liked the rounder, less blocky look is all.

anyway, i'll just have to remember all that next time i see such a pic.
