I kind of understand what they're going for there; private contractors, for instance, are not technically part of any military, but they could be referred to as soldiers. But I think this just adds an extra layer of confusion and there aren't so many military-themed posts that this would ruin anything.
I think soldier should be aliased to army (after changing the wiki entry), which, in turn, should imply military.

I left off the machine implications as some of these (e.g., boat) don't really fit well within those, and I suspect some might be a bit more complicated to handle than others. I also left the watercraft/armored vehicle tags alone as they aren't being used currently.
