Same reason they are popular outside of this site. Cute animals with lots of appealing visual personality, all related by evolving from the same base form that is either a cat or a fox or a dog, depending on who you ask.

Just to you know:

"This comic is like, "yeah, man, it’s not that good, how the hell does it even have so many pages?" until suddenly its 2 am, youre staring at the panel of the kids arc, and you realize you're actually crying while questioning your entire relationship with the passage of time. It's consistent, it’s silent, and somehow we’ve already reached a "new generation" inside the same damn story. Audacious, I have to say. The one piece is the arcs we made along the way.

for one, eeveelutions are just popular in general. eevee has been sort of a secondary mascot to pikachu, with as far back as Yellow, where the player's rival is given an eevee.

they're also the defacto largest evolutionary family, meaning that an individual is more likely to have one of them as a favorite pokémon. most posts featuring one of them are likely to also feature at least one other, which leads to a sort of feedback loop.

Little bit of nitpicking: Against common belief, dinosaurs never went extinct. Only non-avian dinosaurs are extinct. Birds, which are highly specialized group of smaller theropod dinosaurs are alive and well to this day. Let's hope that the ongoing anthropogenic extinction event will not change that.

    Fun fact: While the dinosaurs were killed due to the astroid impact 66 million years ago. There was also a volcanic event that had already been ongoing known as a flood basalt event. This isn't to say that volcanism caused the extinction, it was certainly caused by the chicxulub event. However, it's also safe to say that life was probably not sunshine and rainbows leading up to the impact. Whether or not the Daccan trap volcanism had a any hand in the extinction event is currently debated.

    Watching a modded clover pit run(30 charms space), and I get philosophical excitement about the phrase the ytuber did say "I want to see where the physically the charms will go"

    But the game itself is not a physical space?
    Yeah, there are electrons flowing in a chip, but it is not a "space" nor the results of thier interaction with the matter of the chip (the game itself)
